Bellator MMA will be holding on to an exciting young prospect for years to come.

According to the promotion’s press release, Bellator has re-signed Valerie Loureda (3-0) to a lengthy contract that will last for multiple years through an unspecified number of multiple fights. The Taekwondo fighter nicknamed “Master” has won all three of her appearances inside the Bellator cage, with two finishes since her pro debut in February 2019. Loureda will remain competing at flyweight, with her exclusive contract preventing her from competing elsewhere. Despite her young unbeaten status, Loureda has yet to face an opponent with a winning record, with her three previous foes combining for a record of 2-4.

The American Top Team prospect stepped in the Bellator cage in the promotion’s first event back since a layoff due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 22-year-old laid waste to Tara Graff in the second round of their match, finishing “The Tiny Terror” with a vicious right hand at exactly the 5:00 mark. In doing so, she earned the fifth clean knockout among all women’s bouts inside the Bellator cage, and the fourth Bellator finish registered at the 5:00 mark that was not between rounds. While her victory was impressive, her post-fight celebratory dance also drew positive reactions around the MMA community.

In a statement about her newly signed contract, Loureda wrote, “I am pleased to have re-signed with Bellator. As I have always said, I am here to show the world the true martial artist that I am and chase the flyweight belt. I was born for this, I am a natural born fighter.”
