Bellator 75 Weigh-Ins: Eric Prindle, Thiago Santos Cleared for Friday’s Main Event Rematch

Eric Prindle and Thiago Santos have been cleared to settle their score at Bellator 75, as both men came in on point at Thursday’s pre-fight weigh-ins.

Prindle tipped the scales at 264 pounds, while Santos checked in at 265.6 pounds ahead of Friday night’s headliner, which emanates from The Venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, Ind., and airs on MTV2. The bout serves as one of four scheduled heavyweight tournament quarterfinals slated for the evening’s main draw.

The eight-man bracket will also see former Strikeforce talent Brett Rogers (265.8) lock horns with lanky Russian prospect Alexander Volkov (225.2). Additionally, former light heavyweight tournament qualifier Richard Hale (233) will square off with Mike Wessel (262.2), while Mark Holata (249.2) toes the line against onetime UFC competitor Vinicius Kappke de Queiroz (247).

The evening’s undercard will be streamed live on both Spike.com and Bellator.com and is highlighted by a bantamweight showdown between former World Extreme Cagefighting champion Chase Beebe (136.2) and onetime MFC competitor David Harris (135.2)*.

Prindle’s headlining clash with Santos will serve as a rematch of their Season 5 heavyweight tournament final one year ago, in which “Big Monster” landed what was deemed to be an accidental kick to the groin of a downed Prindle, resulting in the bout being ruled a no-contest. The men were then scheduled to rematch in March, but the return bout was postponed by a week after Prindle developed flu-like symptoms and then canceled altogether after Santos failed to make weight at Bellator 62. Prindle was subsequently crowned the winner of the tournament and awarded a shot at now-retired heavyweight champion Cole Konrad, who submitted “The American Soldier” with a kimura in just 60 seconds on May 25.
