Scott Writz vs. Josh Streacker

Round 1

Writz pressures forward with an outside leg kick. Writz lands a body kick and is countered by Streacker. Streacker lands a left hook followed by a head kick. Streacker is throwing heavy shots early. A low kick lands for Writz. The action has slowed as both welterweights struggle to find their range at the midway point of the frame. A left hand from Streacker counters a combination by Writz. Streacker lands a glancing, looping left hook. Streacker gets tagged with a two-punch combination by Writz. Streacker gets hit with another combination as he comes forward.

Round 2

Ritz attempts to land an inside kick but its low, and Streacker needs a moment to recover. Streacker is ready and the action resumes. Writz forces the clinch and pins Streacker against the fence. A counter right hand connects for Streacker during an exchange. Writz lands a body kick and Streacker responds with a leg kick. Streacker counters a kick with a right hand. Streacker utilizing good head movement and he counters Writz again. Streacker follows a right hand with a head kick, but it’s partially blocked. Streacker puts Writz on his seat with a straight right hand. Writz quickly gets up, eating punches all the way. Streacker smells blood. A massive right hook puts Writz back on the floor, and referee Kevin MacDonald rushes in to halt the bout before any more damage can be done.

Joey Diehl vs. Jesse Bazzi

Round 1

Bazzi immediately stalks his foe, pressuring with his jab and a body kick. Bazzi lands an outside low kick, then steps in with a jab to the body. A jab connects for Diehl. Bazzi works another low kick. A left to the body lands for Bazzi, and moments later he pushes forward with a low kick. Bazzi continues the pressure, landing a body kick. Diehl finds his moment and changes levels for a takedown. Diehl can’t get his opponent down, but he secures double underhooks and drives Bazzi into the fence. Diehl attempts a throw, but Bazzi blocks it. Diehl lands a knee and a left as the fighters separate. Diehl throws a kick and is knocked off balance by a jab. Bazzi allows his foe to stand rather than follow Diehl to the mat. Bazzi ends the frame with a jab.

Round 2

Diehl comes out throwing more aggressively but eats a jab as a result. Bazzi goes to work, landing a pair of early low kicks. Bazzi misses a combination but lands a low kick at the tail end. Bazzi finds the range on a left to the body. Bazzi closes the distance for a left hook-right hand combo. Inside low kick lands for Diehl, but he can’t find the range on the ensuing punches. Diehl blocks a high kick, and Bazzi goes back to attacking the lead leg of his opponent with a pair of low kicks. Diehl is able to land a counter, but Bazzi is unfazed. Bazzi goes back to landing the straight left to the body. Bazzi stuffs a takedown, but Diehl is able to pull him into his guard with a little less than minute left. Bazzi is able to free himself and he stands, bringing the action back to the feet. Bazzi lands a body kick as time winds down.

Round 3

A straight hand gets through for Diehl early. Bazzi regains control, as he gets Diehl moving backward by landing a left hand. Bazzi works the body. A left hand to the chin buts Diehl on his back. Bazzi isn’t going to the ground, and he makes Diehl get back up. Diehl attempts a jumping knee, but Bazzi is able to avoid serious damage. Bazzi lands a jab to the head followed by a left to the midsection. another left to the body lands for Bazzi, who follows that with a liver kick moments later. Diehl is struggling to land any offense of significance as we reach the final minute. Diehl rushes in during the waning seconds and lands a short right, but Bazzi avoids the majority of the assault as time expires.

Dave Latoria vs. Jason Belyew

Round 1

Belyew opens things up with an outside leg kick. Belyew lands a couple more leg kicks before tying up with Latoria. He pushes Latoria into the fence. Latoria turns his man around and lands punches to the body and head. Latoria maintains control in the clinch, and he defends a takedown. After stopping the takedown, Latoria lands a knee to the groin. Before referee Rob Madrigal can separate the fighters and call time, Latoria lands a clean right hand that puts Belyew face down on the canvas. After a couple minutes, Belyew returns to his feet and the heavyweights embrace. However, this one is over.

Adil Benjilany vs. Cris Lencioni

Round 1

Lencioni immediately comes forward throwing punches. Lencioni shoots for a takedown and gets Benjilany down. Benjilany works to defend, but Lencioni scrambles to top position. Lencioni passes to mount, and then Benjilany gives up his back. Lencioni punishes Benjilany with punches to the head as his foe attempts to escape back control. Somehow, Benjilany is able to reverse and turn into top position from the body triangle. The featherweights return to their feet and Lencioni is denied on a takedown. Benjilany tags his man with a combination. Lencioni is undeterred and he marches forward, landing looping punches. Benjilany tags his foe with a counter right hand as the action comes fast and furious. Lencioni grabs a single leg takedown and puts Benjilany on his back. Benjilany transitions for a heel hook from his back, but he doesn’t quite have the proper angle. After a scramble, it’s Benjilany on top, and he’s landing hammerfists from above. Lencioni frames a triangle choke from his back, and he lands elbows and punches from his back as the round ticks down. Benjilany looks like he’s going to survive the round, but just a few seconds before the horn, he is forced to tap out.

Charlie Radke vs. Christopher Gonzalez

Round 1

Radtke lands a leg kick early. Radtke is probing with kicks before Gonzalez closes the distance behind a combination. He slips before he can get a takedown. Moments later, Gonzalez executes a massive waistlock takedown, slamming Radtke to the mat. Radtke is up, and Gonzalez drives him into the fence. They separate and reset in the center of the cage. Gonzalez closes the distance and then lands an uppercut and right hand on the break. Gonzalez is able to get ahold of Radtke, pick him up and slam him to the mat. Gonzalez is now set up inside his opponent’s full guard. Gonzalez maintains heavy top pressure as time winds down below one minute. Radtke lands an elbow from his back, but Gonzalez ends the frame on top.

Round 2

Gonzalez opens up with a low kick, then misses a spinning roundhouse kick. Gonzalez grabs a single leg. Radtke defends and lands some right hands to the head. Gonzalez pushes Radtke into the cage while still battling for the takedown. After a battle, he’s able to secure the takedown. Gonzalez works his way to Radtke’s back, and the Team Alpha Male product has both hooks in with 3:00 remaining. Radtke looks to control Gonzalez’s hands to prevent the choke. Radtke tries to land punches over the head while avoiding the rear-naked choke. Radtke goes face down, and Gonzalez cranks his opponent’s face. Gonzalez isn’t able to secure it, but he remains in control with less than a minute to go. Radtke continues to fight the hands of his opponent. The frame will end with Gonzalez still attached to Radtke’s back.

Round 3

The lightweights trade punches in close quarters, and Gonzalez circles away. Radtke moves forward with a combination, ending with an uppercut. About one minute in, Gonzalez’s snatches a single leg. This time, Radtke threatens with a guillotine before separating his opponent’s hands. Radtke pressures and lands a couple rights against his foe. Radtke is having more success pressuring and throwing punching combinations. Gonzalez follows a missed overhand with a level change, and he takes Radtke down near the fence. Radtke is up with 2:00 to go, but he remains tied up against the fence. Gonzalez drops down for another takedown, but he can’t complete it. Radtke creates some space with 1:00 left in the fight. They’re trading punches for a moment. Gonzalez circles away, and changes levels below a Radtke right hand, planting his foe on the mat. From his back, Radtke locks up a triangle and rolls into top position. Gonzalez is in full survival mode here, bucking his legs as time winds down. Gonzalez survives until the bell.

James Bochnovic vs. Robert Morrow

Round 1

Bochnovic lands a low kick and eats a counter right from Morrow in return. Morrow throws a left head kick and makes Bochnovic stumble back. Moments later, he connects with the same maneuver with a similar result. They tie up, and Morrow unloads with uppercuts in the clinch. Bochnovic tumbles to the canvas following a two-punch combination, and Morrow follows him to the mat. From there, Morrow unloads with punches and hammerfists, and Bochnovic appears to go out momentarily. The fight is halted by referee Mike Beltran with Bochnovic a bloody mess.

Jose Leon vs. Christian Rodriguez

Round 1

Rodriguez counters a low kick with a right hand. Crisp straight punches are landing early for Rodriguez. The Roufusport product attempts a flying knee against the fence and ties up with Leon. Rodriguez is able to trip his man to the mat and then moves immediately to side control. Rodriguez goes knee on belly, then secures a crucifix and drops some hard elbows from above. Rodriguez now passes to full mount. He postures up, landing more ground-and-pound. Rodriguez has Leon’s right arm trapped and he’s riding him, landing more punches. Rodriguez passes back into mount, and he stays busy with punches before dropping a massive elbow. Leon continues to do his best to defend as Rodriguez batters him from above. Rodriguez lines up an elbow, but Leon rolls away and Rodriguez can only find the canvas. Rodriguez transitions to an armbar, but Leon defends desperately. Rodriguez transitions to back control, and he has a body triangle locked in. Rodriguez is back to mount with 45 seconds to go. Rodriguez locks in an arm triangle, but Leon defends well. Rodriguez continues his relentless assault, transitioning back to the armbar, and this time Leon taps in a matter of seconds.

Adam Ward vs. Khuukhenkhuu Amartuvshin

Round 1

Ward takes the center of the cage and backs up his Mongolian foe with a two-punch combo. Ward lands another clean right hand and then attacks the legs. Ward continues alternating inside and outside low kicks. Amartuvshin lands a pair of low kicks and then rocks Ward with a counter. Ward just misses an overhand right, then knocks his foe backward with a push kick. The lightweights are trading liberally, and both are landing significant shots. Amartuvshin lands a couple clean left hands, and now the Mongolian is upping his volume. Ward does a good job slipping and rolling for the most part. A counter right lands clean for Amartuvshin. Ward goes to the body and Amartuvshin ducks under a big follow up hook. A left head kick lands partially for Ward. Ward lands a lab and a push kick as time winds down.

Round 2

Ward gets to work with low kicks and a right hand. Amartuvshin lands a hard counter right. A push kick finds the range for Amartuvshin. Amartuvshin lands a pair of inside leg kicks. The fighters are standing in front of each other, and Ward lands a right cross. A right from Amartuvshin gets through Ward’s guard. Amartuvshin is landing some effective combinations, working the head and body. Ward lands a low kick followed by a right hand. Ward lands a body kick. The lightweights continue to trade in the pocket. Amartuvshin landing liberally know, and Ward is just absorbing the blows. A counter left lands for Ward. Ward ties up his foe and Amartuvshin nearly lands a hip toss. Amartuvshin throws a spinning back elbow as time ticks down. The Mongolian fighter lands an overhand right before the bell.

Round 3

Amartuvshin gets to work, mixing up kicks to the legs and body of his opponent early. A right hand connects for Ward. Amartuvshin counters Ward with a two-punch combination. Ward answers with a liver kick and Amartuvshin marches forward anyway. Ward sticks him with a jab. Ward lands a straight right followed by a push kick. Amartuvshin tries to walk Ward down. Both men are still throwing with plenty of volume. Amartuvshin lands a right cross in an exchange. Moments later, Ward tags his man with a straight right. A body kick lands for Amartuvshin and Ward answers with a short elbow. A minute left and Amartuvshin pushes forward, mixing up punches to the head and kicks to the body. Amartuvshin keeps mixing up his attacks, and he’s getting the better of the exchanges down the stretch, tagging Ward with clean shots. Amartuvshin lets out a yell as the final bell sounds.

Bryan Bautista vs. Rob Fenicle

Round 1

A right jab for Fenicle lands at the outset. Bautista stalks his foe and lands a kick to the body. They clinch and Fenicle lands a short uppercut. Bautista is blending punches and kicks early. Bautista secures a front headlock and briefly cranks for a guillotine. Fenicle is out in short order. A right hand lands on the chin for Fenicle. A scramble ensues and Fenicle rolls for a heel hook. Bautista tries to roll out of danger, but Fenicle maintains his grip and cranks the hold. Bautista has no choice but to tap out.

Tywan Claxton vs. James Bennett

Round 1

Bennett moves forward and lands a body kick. Claxton ties up with his opponent and gets a quick trip takedown. A scramble ensues and Claxton looks to take the back. He lands some right hands under Bennett’s armpit. Bennett works his way up, but Claxton pulls his legs out from under him. Bennett hunts for a choke, but Claxton escapes and assumes top position. Claxton neutralizes Bennett’s arm and lands some big left hands before his foe stands. Claxton slams him right back down next to the cage. Claxton drops an elbow inside of Bennett’s guard. Bennett has a cut on his forehead, as Claxton postures up inside of guard to land forceful ground-and-pound. Claxton keeps the pressure on, standing and then diving back into guard, all while staying busy with punches. Claxton grinds Bennett against the fence and ends the round with elbows and hammerfists.

Round 2

Bennett opens round two with a smile on his face. He blocks a high kick attempt from Claxton. Claxton sets up a flying knee, and he shoves Bennett to the ground behind it. While the knee landed, Bennett appeared to be more off balance than anything, but Claxton is back on top, landing ground-and-pound. It’s looking like a repeat of the first-round, as Claxton is imposing his will inside guard, more powerful punches. Claxton has time to yell a greeting at rapper 50 Cent, who is seated cageside. Claxton remains in control, and he continues to batter Bennett from above in a lopsided thrashing. Bennett sitting up now, but Claxton is in complete control. Bennett doesn’t stand until right before the final bell.

Round 3

Bennett presses forward with his jab. Claxton backs him off with a high kick. Bennett pressures, but Claxton changes levels and dumps Bennett to the mat. Claxton moves from side control to mount with ease. Bennett recovers half guard after Claxton drops a slashing elbow. Claxton creates some space and unloads a series of unanswered elbows. Bennett is blocking enough of the blows to avoid a stoppage, but Claxton isn’t stopping. He switches to hammerfists. Bennett is still defending reasonably well from his back, but referee Kevin MacDonald has seen enough.

Jake Hager vs. T.J. Jones

Round 1

They touch gloves and this heavyweight contest is underway. Hager closes distance behind his jab and takes down Jones with ease. Jones turtles up and Hager lands three or four right hands. Hager moves to side control near the fence. Hager looks to isolate an arm and he nearly gets reversed. Hager maintains top control, however. The former WWE star looks to set up a kimura, but Jones frees himself. Jones is back on all fours, eating right hands under his armpit. Hager locks up an arm-triangle choke, and passes over to the correct side to complete the maneuver. As soon as he does, Jones taps out. Hager maintains the squeeze for what appears to be an extra couple seconds after the submission as referee Mike Beltran attempts to separate the fighters.

A.J. McKee vs. Pat Curran

Round 1

McKee comes up short on a spinning kick as the featherweights attempt to gauge the range. McKee steps in and uses his length to land a body kick. Curran blocks a high kick. It’s a very tentative beginning for both men, but McKee is showing Curran a variety of kicks. McKee lands a takedown and sets up in Curran’s guard. Curran is able to create space and stand, but not before McKee lands a knee and some punches on the break. Curran lands an inside leg kick. Another high kick from McKee is blocked. Boos are starting to come from the crowd at Rosemont Arena in a deliberate opening frame. Curran is struggling to navigate the reach of his opponent. McKee knocks Curran off balance with a kick and presses the action, but the former champ recovers quickly. The round ends without any further action.

Round 2

McKee has a body kick blocked by Curran. McKee backs Curran off with a standing side kick, then follows up with a pair of leg kicks. Curran moves forward and blocks a left hook from McKee. More boos from the crowd, as the tentative nature of the bout continues. McKee backs Curran up with a push kick. McKee moves forward with a three punch combo, but Curran blocks the majority of it. A side kick to the body connects for “The Mercenary.” The action is limited, but McKee is the one dictating the terms of the fight so far. A straight right hand slips through for McKee. McKee again fires off a combination, but Curran defends well. Curran times a double-leg takedown well, and McKee is planted on his back at the 1:30 mark. McKee immediately gets to work with punches and elbows from his back. Curran is on top, but McKee is initiating the offense from below. Curran is cut now from one of those elbows. Curran stands and lands a kick to the legs of McKee before the bell.

Round 3

Curran remains hesitant to engage as he struggles to navigate distance. McKee moves in, unloads with a combination and then backs out. McKee uses his toolbox of kicks to control the range, as he has done for most of the bout. McKee continues to be the aggressor in exchanges, although he isn’t landing cleanly. McKee shoots for a takedown. Curran sprawls nicely and lands a knee on the break. McKee blocks a high kick. The pace remains deliberate and the fans are letting these featherweights hear it. McKee shoots again from way out and he drives Curran into the fence. There’s less than a minute remaining, and McKee eventually drags Curran to the mat. Curran is seated against the fence, as McKee has his foe’s legs wrapped up and is landing punches to the ribs. That’s how the bout will end in what should be a signature victory for McKee.

Welterweight World Grand Prix:
Douglas Lima vs. Michael Page

Round 1

Page comes out with some aggression, backing up Lima with a combination. Now “Venom” is using kicks to the knee to control range. Lima lands his first couple low kicks of the fight. Page counters a low kick nicely with a right hand. Lima stalks patiently, trying to find his range. Page leaps in with a superman punch, but that allows Lima to take him down immediately. Lima creates some space to drop an elbow. Page is doing his best to control Lima’s wrists from his back. Lima is struggling to land much in the way of offense from top position thus far. Lima is working to improve his position, but Page is content to neutralize his foe as the round ends.

Round 2

Page begins with a spinning roundhouse kick upstairs, but Lima blocks it. Lima appears to be staggered by a leaping punch from Page. Lima briefly retreats, and Page is in stalking mode now. Page lunges forward with another punch and has his legs kicked out from under him by Lima. As Page attempts to stand, Lima connects to the Brit’s chin with a clean right hook. Page is immediately rendered unconscious as he falls back to the canvas. Lima lands a couple hammerfists on the ground before Mike Beltran dives in to wave off the fight. Lima will advance to the finals of the welterweight grand prix, while Page has suffered his first career defeat.

Bellator Lightweight Title Fight:
Michael Chandler vs. Patricio Freire

Round 1

Freire lands a right hand during an initial exchange. Chandler steps in with a jab, then backs up to avoid the counter. Both fighters are taking a measured approach. Moments later, Chandler gets clipped behind the ear with with a counter right hand as he attempts to land a jab. Chandler goes down and Freire misses the initial follow-up ground strike. However, “Pitbull's” subsequent strikes on the mat land, and Chandler is defenseless for a few seconds. Referee Rob Madrigal steps in to wave off the bout, and that’s when Chandler appears to wake back up. By then, it’s too late, and the Brazilian is the new 155-pound king. While Chandler protests the stoppage, Freire joins Ryan Bader as the only two simultaneous two-division champs in Bellator MMA.
