Ares FC Signs Dana White's Contender Series Vet Lucrezia Ria

Ares Fighting Championship is succeeding in making the headlines without any new event on the horizon anytime soon.

Even though the French promotion still has to confirm its first event after the COVID-19 outbreak, Ares is signing some of the most exciting prospects in Europe at the moment. On Thursday, the organization announced that it inked a deal with Dana White's Contender Series veteran Lucrezia Ria.

Italian fighter Ria (8-2) is riding an impressive six-bout winning streak dating back to early 2017. In her latest appearance, she edged Marilia Santos via split decision at DWCS “Season 3, Episode 7.” Even though she took home the decision, her performance did not impress UFC President Dana White, who declined to offer her a UFC contract. Prior to that win, Ria put Maiju Suotama to sleep with a rear-naked choke at Carelia Fight 14.

In addition to this signing, Ares also announced that it has added Brave CF and Cage Warriors Fighting Championship veteran David Bear (9-1) to its roster. “The Bear” is riding a two-bout winning streak after he rendered Pawel Kielek unconscious at Brave CF 19 and handled Nathan Jones at CW 113.

The relatively new promotion should have held its sophomore event in Belgium on April 3. On that card, several UFC veterans were slated to make their promotional debut, including Nordine Taleb, John Moraga and Juan Adams. Even though the event is scheduled to take place on Oct. 30, it will depend on the COVID-19 situation in Europe.
