The 20-year-old Lee (8-0) short-circuited the Brazilian’s standup advances with takedowns. She threatened to end it with a twister in the first round before forcing it to the ground again in the second. There, Lee worked into position for the anaconda choke, tightened her squeeze on the challenger’s neck and solicited the tapout.
In the co-main event, the unbeaten Ben Askren
retained his
One Championship welterweight crown with a flawless
performance, as the four-time NCAA All-American wrestler and 2008
Olympian submitted Agilan
Thani with a first-round arm-triangle choke. Thani (7-1) bowed
out 2:20 into Round 1.
Askren (16-0) was never in jeopardy. He executed a takedown, carved through the Malaysian’s guard and framed the choke for the finish.
Meanwhile, former Pacific Xtreme Combat champion Zebaztian Kadestam knocked out Luis Santos with grounded knee strikes to the head in the third round of their welterweight showcase. Kadestam (9-3) brought it to a close 2:18 into Round 3, as he won for the fifth time in seven appearances.
Santos (63-10-1) largely dominated the first and second rounds. In the third, Kadestam moved to an advantageous position in side control and unleashed a volley of knees the knocked the American Top Team-trained Brazilian unconscious.
The loss was the first for Santos since May 2012.
