Lee submitted Parana Vale Tudo prospect Istela Nunes with a second-round anaconda choke to retain her atomweight title in the One Championship “Dynasty of Heroes” headliner on Friday at Singapore Indoor Stadium in Kallang, Singapore. Souza (5-1) conceded defeat 2:18 into Round 2.

The 20-year-old Lee (8-0) short-circuited the Brazilian’s standup advances with takedowns. She threatened to end it with a twister in the first round before forcing it to the ground again in the second. There, Lee worked into position for the anaconda choke, tightened her squeeze on the challenger’s neck and solicited the tapout.

In the co-main event, the unbeaten Ben Askren retained his One Championship welterweight crown with a flawless performance, as the four-time NCAA All-American wrestler and 2008 Olympian submitted Agilan Thani with a first-round arm-triangle choke. Thani (7-1) bowed out 2:20 into Round 1.

Askren (16-0) was never in jeopardy. He executed a takedown, carved through the Malaysian’s guard and framed the choke for the finish.

Meanwhile, former Pacific Xtreme Combat champion Zebaztian Kadestam knocked out Luis Santos with grounded knee strikes to the head in the third round of their welterweight showcase. Kadestam (9-3) brought it to a close 2:18 into Round 3, as he won for the fifth time in seven appearances.

Santos (63-10-1) largely dominated the first and second rounds. In the third, Kadestam moved to an advantageous position in side control and unleashed a volley of knees the knocked the American Top Team-trained Brazilian unconscious.

The loss was the first for Santos since May 2012.

In other action, Garry Tonon submitted former One Championship, Dream and Shooto titleholder Shinya Aoki with a heel hook 7:46 into their grappling match at 155 pounds; Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke dispatched Adrian Matheis with punches 4:26 into the first round of their strawweight pairing; Geje Eustaquio claimed a split decision over Anatpong Bunrad in a three-round battle at 125 pounds; Amir Khan struck Rajinder Singh Meena into submission 1:29 into the first round of their lightweight scrap; Tiffany Teo took a unanimous decision from Rebecca Heintzman-Rozewski in a three-round encounter at 115 pounds; Rika Ishige submitted Nita Dea with a rear-naked choke 2:39 into the first round of their atomweight affair; and Chen Lei put away Jeremy Meciaz with punches 2:56 into the first round of their catchweight clash at 152 pounds.
