Amanda Nunes Defends Featherweight Belt Against Felicia Spencer at UFC 250

The women’s featherweight belt is on the line in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s first trip to Brazil in 2020.

On Thursday, ESPN announced that Amanda Nunes (19-4) will defend her featherweight strap for the first time against Felicia Spencer (8-1) at UFC 250. The fight will likely headline the card in Brazil on May 9. This follows a report in February where Nunes would face a challenger from UFC Norfolk.

Nunes has won her last 10 bouts, finishing seven of those including Cristiane Justino, Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey. The simultaneous two-division champ at the 135- and 145-pound weight classes, she is also the winningest female fighter in company history with 12 triumphs between those divisions. Additionally, she posts records including the longest win streak, most finishes, most knockouts and most first-round stoppages among all women to ever grace the UFC cage.

Spencer recently toppled Zarah Fairn dos Santos at UFC Fight Night 169 in February, becoming the first fighter to stop the French kickboxer with strikes. The former Invicta Fighting Championships champ claimed her title by submitting Pam Sorenson at Invicta FC 32 in 2018, and punched her ticket to the Octagon in victory. Since then, she submitted Megan Anderson in the opening frame, and dropped a decision to Justino in July 2019.

UFC 250 goes down at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium on May 9 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The card will also feature a bantamweight championship matchup pitting Henry Cejudo against Jose Aldo. Additionally, Mauricio Rua faces Antonio Rogerio Nogueira for the third time at light heavyweight, while a pair of submission-minded heavyweight collide when Fabricio Werdum takes on Alexey Oleynik.
