Alonzo Menifield vs. Trevor Smith Set for UFC on ESPN 7

An intriguing light heavyweight bout has been added to UFC on ESPN 7, as surging prospect Alonzo Menifield will take on Trevor Smith.

Sherdog.com confirmed the booking following an initial report from The Washington Post. UFC on ESPN 7 goes down on Dec. 7 in Washington D.C. and is headlined by a heavyweight fight between Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris.

Menifield is 9-0 as a pro, a mark that includes a pair of first-round finishes inside the Octagon. The Fortis MMA product earned his UFC contract by stopping Dashawn Boatwright in eight seconds on the Contender Series in June 2018. Menifield has since earned first-round KO/TKO triumphs over Vinicius Moreira Castro and Paul Craig in UFC competition.

Smith, meanwhile, is on a two-fight losing streak and will move up to light heavyweight for this fight. He last fought in December, when he lost to Zak Cummings by decision at UFC on Fox 31. “Hot Sauce” was originally expected to take on Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC Sao Paulo in November, but that matchup is no longer happening.
