All 24 fighters who competed at UFC
131 “Dos Santos vs. Carwin” have been handed medical
suspensions by the Vancouver Athletic Commission, the sanctioning
body announced Tuesday.
Headlined by a heavyweight title eliminator between Junior dos Santos and Shane Carwin, UFC 131 took place June 11 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Dos Santos dominated in the main event, battering Carwin with punches en route to a unanimous decision win.
Though all fighters received a suspension following the event, 11
of the competitors were issued only nine-day precautionary
suspensions.
More significant was the suspension given to Jason Young, who could now sit out up to 180 days pending an X-ray of his right foot. If the X-ray comes back negative, however, the Brit will be suspended only 45 days with no contact for 30 days.
