Alistair Overeem Dismisses Calls for Retirement: ‘I’m Already in the Gym’
Things didn’t go Alistair Overeem’s way at UFC 218, but that hasn’t weakened the Dutchman’s resolve to continue with his mixed martial arts career.

Still, Overeem has remained a top contender in the heavyweight division — he came up short in a title bid against Miocic at UFC 203 — and he isn’t planning on heading into retirement just yet, despite the brutal nature of his most recent defeat.
The 37-year-old Jackson-Wink representative will be an interested observer when Miocic and Ngannou square off, but for now he is already back to working on his craft.
“Unfortunately it isn’t my face on the UFC 220 poster but still as a fight fan I can say it’s going to be a good scrap,” Overeem wrote on Twitter. “I don’t really have a favorite, so may the best man win and for all the people that are telling that I should retire: Sorry guys, I’m already in the gym!”
