UFC President Dana White confirmed to ESPN.com on Wednesday that a welterweight bout pitting Cerrone against Kelvin Gastelum has been agreed upon for the Nov. 12 event at Madison Square Garden. That booking leaves Jorge Masvidal, who was supposed to face Gastelum at UFC Fight Night in Mexico City on Nov. 5, without an opponent.

Cerrone was originally supposed to square off against Robbie Lawler at UFC 205, but the former welterweight champion decided that he would not be ready to return by then following a knockout loss to Tyron Woodley at UFC 201.

UFC 205 marks the Las Vegas-based promotion’s first-ever event in the Empire State. No headliner has been announced for the card, which is expected to include a middleweight clash between Rashad Evans and Tim Kennedy as well as a lightweight tilt pitting Thiago Alves against Al Iaquinta.

After a lengthy stint at lightweight, Cerrone has found a new home at 170 pounds, posting successive triumphs over Rick Story, Patrick Cote and Alex Oliveira in his first three welterweight appearances.

The winner of “The Ultimate Fighter 17,” Gastelum has split his last four bouts in the Octagon. The Yuma, Ariz., native is 7-2 in the promotion overall, with notable wins over Johny Hendricks, Nate Marquardt, Jake Ellenberger and Rick Story.
