A.J.
McKee has agreed to fill-in for an injured James
Gallagher at
Bellator 187, where he will meet Brian Moore
in a makeshift main event on Nov. 10 at 3Arena in Dublin.
Gallagher’s original opponent, Jeremiah
Labiano, was moved to Bellator 188 to make room for Moore.
Widely regarded as one of the top featherweight prospects in the
sport, McKee last competed at Bellator 182 in August, when he was
awarded a three-round unanimous decision over journeyman Blair
Tugman. The win moved the Team Bodyshop representative to 9-0
under the Bellator
MMA flag, tying him with Ben Askren
and Michael
Chandler for the longest winning streak in the history of the
organization. McKee, 22, trains under his father, former Maximum
Fighting Championship titleholder Antonio
McKee.
Moore operates out of the same
SBG Ireland camp as Gallagher and reigning
Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight champion Conor
McGregor. The 30-year-old has rattled off three wins across his
past four outings. Moore last appeared at Bellator 177 on April 14,
when he put away Michal
Horejsi with second-round punches at the Budapest Sports Arena
in Budapest, Hungary. He has delivered eight of his 10 career
victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission.
Meanwhile, Kevin
Ferguson Jr. -- the son of the late “Kimbo
Slice” -- will return to the cage opposite Fred
Freeman in a catchweight clash at 165 pounds. Ferguson, 25,
picked up his first professional win and evened his record at 1-1
at Bellator 179 in May, when he wiped out D.J. Griffin with
first-round punches.
