This Month’s MMA Birthdays: Weili Zhang Turns 30

Weili Zhang likely gives China its best chance at striking Ultimate Fighting Championship gold. One of the world’s premier women’s strawweights, she celebrates her 30th birthday on Aug. 13.

Eighteen days later, Zhang will carry a remarkable 19-fight winning streak into her showdown with 115-pound champion Jessica Andrade in the UFC Fight Night 157 main event at Shenzhen Universiade Sports Centre in Shenzhen, China. The Black Tiger Fight Club representative last appeared at UFC 235, where she took a three-round unanimous decision from “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 20 quarterfinalist Tecia Torres in March. Zhang has delivered 16 of her 19 professional victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission.
