Invicta Fighting Championships: By The Numbers

Invicta Fighting Championships has for years been on the forefront of promoting women’s mixed martial arts. Even with the Ultimate Fighting Championship and Bellator MMA dominating a majority of the headlines, Invicta has grown in size, scope and influence since being founded by Shannon Knapp and Janet Martin in 2012. It has provided a platform for fighters like Cristiane Justino, Angela Hill, Michelle Waterson, Jennifer Maia, Tonya Evinger and others.

Ahead of Invicta Fighting Championships 28 on Saturday at the Union Event Center in Salt Lake City, here is a by-the-numbers look at the promotion.

27: Events promoted by Invicta. It made its debut on April 28, 2012 and was headlined by former Strikeforce bantamweight champion Marloes Coenen’s showdown with Romy Ruyssen. Invicta 27 was held on Jan. 13, with Sarah Kaufman defeating Pannie Kianzad by unanimous decision in the main event.

74: Percent of Coenen wins by submission. “Rumina” delivered 17 of 23 career victories by tapout: 10 by armbar, six by rear-naked choke and one by triangle choke.

7: Pro wins for Ruyssen. She was on a four-fight winning streak prior to the inaugural Invicta event, only to be overshadowed by Coenen. Ruyssen has not fought since.

2: Invicta events on the upcoming schedule. Invicta 28 goes down on Saturday, with Mizuki Inoue and Virna Jandiroba duking it out for the vacant strawweight championship. Meanwhile, Invicta 29 will feature Sarah Kaufman battling Katharina Lehner for the vacant bantamweight crown on May 4.

12: Career wins for both Jandiroba and Inoue. “Carcara” remains undefeated, and while Inoue has four losses on her resume, she finds herself on a four-fight winning streak.

3: Vacant divisions at Invicta. They are bantamweight, strawweight and atomweight.

3: Times Justino defended her Invicta featherweight belt before leaving for the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

1,351: Days Justino reigned as featherweight titleholder -- the longest such stint in Invicta history. Flyweight Barb Honchak ranks second with 1,266 days as champion.

4: Wins by knockout or technical knockout for current Invicta featherweight champion Megan Anderson. The Aussie captured the interim 145-pound title with a second-round TKO against Charmaine Tweet on Jan. 14 and was later promoted to undisputed champion.

0: Professional losses for Lehner.

6: Decision wins for Lehner. She has only one finish to her credit -- a first-round TKO at the expense of Alexa Conners in August.

10: Kaufman victories by KO or TKO. The former Strikeforce champion has nine other wins by decision.

1,500: Dollars given to Maia after the reigning Invicta flyweight champion took “Performance of the Night” honors in her successful title defense against Aga Niedzwiedz on Dec. 8.
