Active winning streak

The last time Nunes suffered a loss was in 2014, when she was knocked out by Cat Zingano. Since then, she has racked up nine straight victories, and against some of the very best competitors WMMA has ever offered, including Holly Holm, Cristiane Justino, Raquel Pennington, Valentina Shevchenko (twice), Ronda Rousey, Miesha Tate, Sara McMann and Shayna Baszler.

Since losing to Nunes, de Randamie has piled up five consecutive victories. She has beaten Larissa Pacheco, Anna Elmose, Holly Holm, Raquel Pennington and Aspen Ladd.

Stoppage rate

Of de Randamie’s nine career wins, four have come via stoppage and all were by KO or TKO. That makes for a 44 percent finishing rate. Perhaps the sweetest among these triumphs was her most recent, in which she starched highly touted prospect Aspen Ladd in only 16 seconds. She also holds knockout victories over Elmose, Pacheco and Stephanie Webber.

Nunes has been more dynamic in her approach, with 13 knockouts and three submissions. She has stopped some prominent names, including Holm, Justino, Pennington, Rousey, Tate, McMann, Julia Budd, Vanessa Porto and de Randamie herself.

Common opponents:
Raquel Pennington

Nunes mercilessly hammered Pennington before knocking her out in the fifth round. Fightmetric shows Nunes leading in significant strikes by a landslide, 124-64. De Randamie had a considerable striking edge over Pennington, at 42-42, and was also able to secure a victory over her, but it was a far less violent decision compared to Nunes’ emphatic onslaught.

Holly Holm

De Randamie owns a decision win over former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm. It was for the inaugural featherweight belt, and judges favored de Randamie’s crisp counterpunches over Holm’s clinch work. Fightmetric also favored the Dutch kickboxer in terms of significant strikes, giving her a slight 80-77 edge. As for Nunes, she needed only one round to beat Holm via head kick and punches.

Julia Budd

Both Nunes and de Randamie spent time in Strikeforce, and that’s where they fought Julia Budd. Nunes met the Canadian powerhouse at Strikeforce - Challengers 13 and sent her to the canvass in just 14 seconds. De Randamie wasn’t as proficient against Budd, losing a decision in their Strikeforce - Challengers 16 encounter. While she led in significant strikes, 29-6, Budd was able to take her down six times.

Vanessa Porto

In her professional debut, de Randamie faced Porto, who then had a record of 7-3. De Randamie’s inexperience showed as she lost via submission in the very first round. Nunes met Porto at an event called Samurai FC 2 - Warrior's Return and won by corner stoppage after the second round. Advertisement
