By The Numbers: Johnny Walker

While many jumped the gun on Johnny Walker as a potential contender, he remains an intriguing talent in the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s light heavyweight division.

The charismatic Brazilian spurred interest in his rise with a spectacular Octagon debut, as he leveled Khalil Rountree with a close-quarters elbow strike at UFC Fight Night 140 on Nov. 17, 2018. His hype train only picked up steam from there. In two subsequent appearances, Walker obliterated Justin Ledet and Misha Cirkunov in less than a minute combined. So it was that he entered his ill-fated UFC 244 confrontation with Corey Anderson on a nine-fight winning streak, only to succumb to punches from “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 19 winner 2:07 into the first round. A unanimous decision loss to Nikita Krylov four months later knocked more shine off of Walker’s star and clouded his immediate future.

15: Seconds needed to stop Ledet at UFC Fight Night 144. It was the quickest stoppage of Walker’s career, though he does have five other sub-minute finishes to his credit.

21: Significant strikes landed in his first three UFC appearances combined. Walker won all three fights, defeated Rountree, Ledet and Cirkunov in a grand total of 230 seconds.
