By The Numbers: Jingnan Xiong

Jingnan Xiong gave One Championship something it had long desired: a legitimate Chinese star to put its promotional muscle behind.

Xiong linked arms with the Singapore-based organization three-plus years ago, captured the inaugural women’s strawweight championship in just her second appearance and emerged as a key piece to the puzzle for the Chatri Sityodtong-led company. “The Panda” owns a 6-1 record under the One Championship banner, her only defeat resulting from a failed bid to become a two-division titleholder. She has trained out of the Phuket Top Team, Bali MMA and Evolve MMA camps.

As Xiong awaits word on her next assignment from One Championship matchmakers, a look at some of the numbers she has compiled to this point:

33: Years of age for Xiong, who was born on Jan. 12, 1988 in Jining, China.

3:25:07: Total fight time for Xiong across her 17 professional appearances. She has accumulated 1:11:25 of that time in her last three outings alone.

10: Xiong wins by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 67% of her career total (15). Her list of victims includes Angela Lee, Tiffany Teo and Samara Santos Cunha. Xiong owns one other win by submission and four more by decision.

6: First-round finishes on the Xiong ledger, but only one of them has taken place under the One Championship banner. “The Panda” put away April Osenio with punches 3:44 into their “Warriors of the World” pairing in December 2017.

50: Seconds needed for Xiong to submit Inna Hutsal with an armbar in her professional debut at Kunlun Fight 9 on Aug. 31, 2014. It remains the fastest finish of her 17-fight career.

2: Losses on the Xiong resume. She dropped a unanimous decision to Colleen Schneider at Kunlin Fight 26 on June 6, 2015 and submitted to a rear-naked choke from Angela Lee at One Championship Century Part 1 on Oct. 12, 2019.

4: Successful defenses for Xiong as One Championship women’s strawweight titleholder. She took a unanimous decision from Laura Balin at “Pinnacle of Power” on June 21, 2018, punched out Cunha in the third round of their “Beyond the Horizon” battle on Sept. 8, 2018, brought down Lee with fifth-round punches and kicks to the body at “A New Era” on March 31, 2019 and laid claim to a unanimous verdict over Teo in their “Inside the Matrix” rematch on Oct. 30, 2020.

5: Countries in which Xiong as competed as a mixed martial artist. She has gone 11-1 in China, 1-1 in Japan, 1-0 in Singapore, 1-0 in Indonesia and 1-0 in Thailand.

.657: Cumulative winning percentage between the five women—Teo (twice), Lee, Cunha, Balin and Osenio—Xiong has defeated since she joined the One Championship roster in 2017.

9: Consecutive victories for Xiong between Sept. 4, 2015 and March 31, 2019. She went 1,589 days between losses in a run of sustained success that put her on the map as one of the sport’s best fighters at 125 pounds.
