This Month’s MMA Birthdays: Justin Gaethje Celebrates No. 30
The man personifies violence, a walking, talking cocktail of power punches, crushing leg kicks and abusive ground-and-pound. Justin Gaethje will celebrate his 30th birthday on Nov. 13.
On the heels of a decorated amateur wrestling career, the Safford, Arizona, native won his first 18 bouts as a professional mixed martial artist, laid claim to the World Series of Fighting lightweight championship and established himself as one of the sport’s true action heroes. Gaethje joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship roster in 2017, and though he lost twice in his first three Octagon appearances, he engaged in unforgettable battles with Michael Johnson, Eddie Alvarez and Dustin Poirier. “The Highlight” has delivered 17 of his 19 career victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission, seven of them inside one round. Gaethje last fought at UFC Fight Night 135 in August, when he cut down James Vick with punches in just 87 seconds.
