Showtime Boxing Weigh-in Results: Keenan Smith, Ivan Baranchyk Both Come in at 140

Showtime’s long-running contender show, ShoBox: The New Generation, returns to Buffalo Run Casino in Miami, Oklahoma, on Friday night with a solid quadrupleheader of fisticuffs. Headlining the event is a junior welterweight showdown between Keenan Smith and Ivan Baranchyk, and every fighter on the marquee made weight at Thursday’s official weigh-ins.

Smith (11-0, 5 KOs) has been tearing up the ranks since turning pro and the Philadelphian is eager to get in the ring against a man who will be his toughest challenge to date. Smith came in right at the division’s 140-pound limit and looked confident at the scale.

“I've been training hard for this fight and tomorrow you're going to see the best,” said Smith after he made weight. “We are looking to kill the beast. [Baranchyk] comes to fight, he swings a lot of wild punches. I'm a boxer and a puncher, I'm good at making fighters feel uncomfortable. It's a blessing to be up here, and it's a blessing to fight on ShoBox and it's a big opportunity to move up the ladder.”

Baranchyk (14-0, 10 KOs) is a in a similar situation as his American counterpart. The Russian has already been featured on ShoBox four times and is amped to return to his finishing ways. Baranchyk tipped the scale at 140 pounds well, setting the stage for what should be a solid night of action.

“Training camp went great and we did eight weeks,” Baranchyk said. “I’m going to be shortening my punches up. I know Keenan is an American-style fighter and will be doing a lot of moving forward. I love knockouts and haven’t had one in my last three fights. I can’t wait to get another one tomorrow.”

The action goes live on Showtime beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
