Rob Brant Retains WBA Middleweight Title with 11th Round TKO of Khasan Baysangurov

Rob Brant looked marvelous in the main event of the latest ESPN-televised boxing card Friday night as he stopped Khasan Baysangurov in the 11th.

Brant (25-1, 17 KOs) used terrific movement and accurate punching to offset virtually everything Baysangurov tried in the fight. “Bravo” sent the Russian to the canvas in the second courtesy of a sharp right to the head and systematically picked him apart for the next several rounds. The previously-unbeaten Baysangurov (17-1, 7 KOs) tried consistently to turn the tide in the duel, but he was never allowed to get anything going offensively.

Brant finally ended things in the 11th when a barrage of punches sent his challenger to the canvas. The fight was waived off at that point, ending the beating at the 1:42 mark. The win allowed the Minnesotan to retain his WBA middleweight crown on his first defense.

In other televised action inside the Grand Casino in Hinckley, Minnesota, middleweight contender Lennox Allen (22-0-1, 14 KOs) won a 10-round unanimous decision over Derrick Webster (28-4, 14 KOs); Joshua Greer Jr. (20-1-1, 12 KOs) stopped fellow bantamweight Giovanni Escaner (19-4, 12 KOs) in the eighth; and Mikaela Mayer (10-0, 4 KOs) was awarded a decision over Yareli Larios (13-2-1, 3 KOs) after eight super featherweight rounds.
