Christopher Gonzalez Believes He Is Two Victories Away from a Title Shot
Christopher Gonzalez feels he will soon get his much-coveted shot at the lightweight championship if he keeps winning. Gonzalez (7-1, 6-1 Bellator) is coming off a magnificent 36-second stoppage over Saad Awad at Bellator 273. After scoring his fastest finish to date, the Team Alpha Male representative was paired with Usman Nurmagomedov in an intriguing matchup that will go down at Bellator 283. Gonzalez told Sherdog that he sees himself very close to a chance to capture the 155-pound title as soon as he deals with Nurmagomedov.
“I was really thinking one fight, but now with [Patricky Freire] 'Pitbull' pulling out of his fight with Sidney Outlaw and Tofiq Musayev kind of filling in and with Tofiq having already had beaten “Pitbull,” I feel like the winner of that fight is also gonna be knocking on the door for that title shot too. So if not after this one, you know, I'd say two more at most.”
