Beatdown: Barnett, Noons, Hyatt

Jan 2, 2013

Beatdown kicked off the new year with a bang Wednesday on The Sherdog Radio Network. Joining TJ De Santis and Jeff Sherwood were fighters Josh Barnett, K.J. Noons, and Invicta FC straw weight title challenger Bec Hyatt.

Josh Barnett looks to finish his Strikeforce career on a high note this month in Oklahoma City. The former UFC heavyweight champion faces Nandor Guelmino in the promotions final offering. "The Warmaster" joined the broadcast to chat about his upcoming bout, the importance of the bout as it is Strikeforce's final show, and if we can expect him to be competing in the UFC going forward. The former King of Pancrase also discusses his relationship with Megumi Fujii and if her Christmas Eve fight in Japan was really her last.

"King" Karl James Noons will also be fighting his final Strikeforce bout on January 12th. Standing across the cage from him will be Ryan Couture. Noons breaks down the fight, his plans in life after Strikeforce, and if he feels Ryan Couture is ready to be fighting someone who once held the title of champion.

On Saturday night in Kansas City, Kansas InvictaFC will promote their fourth show. Atop of that card is a straw weight title bout between Carla Esparza and Bec Hyatt. TJ De Santis and Jeff Sherwood welcomed in Bec Hyatt to chat about the upcoming match. Hailing from Australia Hyatt shared her thoughts on her first few days in America, what she expected out of Esparza, and if she plans on coming state side again to train.

TJ and Jeff also take listener calls, emails, tweets, and predictions for the new year.
