Women of Bodog Fight Rule MMA Ring

Anyone who says women do not belong in mixed martial arts needs a labotomy. Follow the sport closely and you will see female fighters are often more entertaining than their chromosomal counterparts.

"With the women, it's less about ego and more about fighting," says Bodog Fight commentator Jeff Osborne (Pictures). "They have fewer opportunitites to showcase their skills, so when they get the chance they tend to lay it all on the line."

As the founder of North America's first all-female MMA promotion 'HOOKnSHOOT', Osborne has seen more women's fights than possibly anyone else on the planet. One of the best, he says, was the recent battle between Carina Damm and Molly Helsel (Pictures).

"I was ringside for that fight," which viewers can see on a special episode of Bodog Fight: Paradise Lost this Tuesday, August 14th at 11 p.m. / 10 p.m. Central on ION television and in Canada on The Fight Network.

"The crowd was made up of other fighters and those two women had them all on their feet. It's not easy to impress a crowd of your peers, but they put on a hell of a show. It was the best fight - male or female - that I had seen in months."

Also featured on this all-female compilation is the newly-crowned Bodog Fight Women's 135-pound Champion, Tara LaRosa, who thrilled her hometown crowd in Trenton, New Jersey last month, beating Kelly Kobold to earn the women's belt.

"Tara is without a doubt the best in the world right now," confirms Osborne. "Her strength is that she has no weaknesses. She'll adapt to any opponent's style, so you never see her fight the same fight twice."

Bodog Fight viewers can see a pair of LaRosa's fights this week, with Julia Berezekova and Shayna Baszler (Pictures) providing the opposition. Both bouts were fought at a furious pace, which came as no surprise to LaRosa herself.

"What people don't realize about women fighters is that most of the time we train with men," says the current women's champ.

"What happens is that we're forced to develop better technique and speed to compensate for our smaller size and comparative lack of strength. So, when we do get into the ring with other women, the fights are very fast paced and technical."

Other featured women's bouts include Damm vs. Rosi Sexton, Baszler vs. Amanda Buckner (Pictures), Buckner vs. Julie Kedzie (Pictures), Kedzie vs. Berezekova, and Tama*Chan vs. Jan Finney (Pictures). According to Osborne, these fights are not to be missed by any fan of MMA.

"Anyone can tune into a TV show right now and see two guys fighting, which is why I think the real opportunity for growth in the sport lies with the women. And if you want to see the world's best female fighters, you have to watch Bodog Fight."
