One of the bantamweight division’s most exciting fighters returns next month with aims of putting on another “Fight of the Night” performance. Will Campuzano (fighting out of Dallas, Texas), who earned “Fight of the Night” honors with his thrilling performance against Ox Wheeler in January, hopes to do much of the same when he meets former world champion Eddie Wineland (fighting out of Chesterton, Ind.) in Edmonton. Known for his fiery striking and relentless pace, the 23-year-old Campuzano (7-1) is one of the division’s most fearless competitors. He hopes to push one step closer to a shot at the championship after going head-to-head with Wineland. A slick boxer with heavy hands, the 25-year-old Wineland (16-6-1) has earned back-to-back wins over Manny Tapia and George Roop. He expects a war when he battles Campuzano on June 20.

Rising lightweight prospect Karen Darabedyan (fighting out of North Hollywood, Calif.) returns to the cage next month with his sights set on fueling a title run. The 23-year-old boxing and judo ace, a training partner of featherweight star Manny Gamburyan, looks to make waves in the division by knocking off Will Kerr (fighting out of New London, Conn.). Hoping to derail Darabedyan’s ascent, the 27-year-old Kerr (8-2) believes his strong standup game will match that of his Armenian opponent. What’s more, the versatile Kerr plans on making a big statement by knocking out Darabedyan (9-2) at Rexall Place.

The first jiu jitsu instructor of UFC welterweight champion and Canadian superstar George St-Pierre will compete on WEC’s first card in Canada on June 20. Bantamweight Wagnney Fabiano (fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) takes his second fight at 135-pounds when he locks horns with Frank Gomez (fighting out of Albuquerque, N.M.). Having defeated Clint Godfrey in his first bantamweight contest, the 34-year-old Fabiano (13-2) looks to continue his success by besting the 24-year-old surging star. The task will be easier said than done. Gomez (8-1) has won his last two fights and is out to prove that he is the future of the 135-pound division.

French prospect Bendy Casimir (fighting out of Alfortville, France) drops to featherweight for an intriguing matchup with 21-year-old prodigy Erik Koch (fighting out of Cedar Rapids, Iowa). A seasoned mixed martial artist owning a record of 19-6-2, the 29-year-old Frenchman Casimir is a balanced striker and effective grappler. He’ll be put to the test when he battles the young gun Koch (9-1). Training under the tutelage of the renowned Duke Roufus, “New Breed” has been touted as the future of the featherweight division. On June 20, Koch will look to move up the ladder with a victory over Casimir.

One of the 10 best featherweights in the world, Raphael Assuncao (fighting out of Atlanta, Ga.) continues his trek to the world title when he meets feared striker Diego Nunes (fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) in Edmonton. Boasting a record of 14-2, the Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt Assuncao has earned victories over Jameel Massouh and Yves Jabouin in his WEC career. The 27-year-old hopes a dominant win over Nunes on June 20 will push him closer to a date with champion Jose Aldo. Hungry to leapfrog Assuncao in the rankings, Nunes (13-1) plans to use his world-class Muay Thai striking to guide him to victory in Canada.

Grappler extraordinaire Rafael Rebello (fighting out of Coconut Creek, Fla.) returns on June 20 to take on newcomer Chris Cariaso (fighting out of San Francisco, Calif.). Rebello, a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt who defeated Kyle Dietz by submission in his last fight, sees Cariaso’s affinity for finishing fights and plans on engaging the once-beaten bantamweight. With that said, expect fireworks when Rebello (6-3) and Cariaso (9-1) collide.

Bantamweight Renan Barao (fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), a top training partner of Jose Aldo, makes his debut on June 20 against fellow newcomer Anthony Leone (fighting out of Cortland, N.Y.). Owning an outstanding record of 20-1, the versatile Brazilian comes to WEC having finished 14 of his last 20 opponents. Standing in his way on fight night is the unbeaten Leone (8-0), a solid grappler and striker who looks to end Barao’s 20-fight win streak.
