TACHI PALACE KICKOFFS FUNDRAISING DRIVE FOR PHILIPPINE RELIEF
Nov 21, 2013 Comments
(PRESS RELEASE) -- LEMOORE, CA – Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino has
kicked off a fundraising effort to support relief efforts in the
typhoon damaged nation of the Philippines. This Friday, November
22, t-shirts with the phrase “Help. Heal. Home.” will go on sale
for $15 at Lino’s Gift Shop in Tachi’s Casino of the Moon. The
shirts depict the Philippine villages of Guiuan, Basey, and
Marabut. These villages are in the province of Samar which was
severely damaged by Typhoon Haiyan. Proceeds from the sale of the
shirts will be donated to the Katbalaoganon Foundation to support
the relief effort in these villages and others.
The shirts were designed by Tachi Palace associate Dwayne Jackson who approached General Manager Willie Barrios with the idea and asked for assistance. Tachi was already looking for ways to assist in the relief efforts and saw this as the perfect opportunity to get involved. Tachi Palace knows their guests always want to support important causes, and this way they will have something to wear to demonstrate their support, as well.
Willie Barrios stated, “We were actively looking for ways to help the critical relief efforts underway in the Philippines, either by a canned food drive or a direct donation to a Philippine charity. We recognize the effect of this tragedy on our Filipino employees and guests, as well as the Filipino community in the Central Valley. We knew we wanted to help, and Dwayne’s shirts ended up being exactly the type of effort we want to start. Our associates and guests like to make a difference, so this is a great way for them to be involved in an important cause.”
The official kickoff of the t-shirt sales will take place at Tachi’s monthly community breakfast this Friday morning in the Bingo Hall. The charity previously selected for this month’s event is Toys for Tots, so those who attend the breakfast will have the opportunity to support two outstanding causes at one time. The $5 fee to attend the breakfast will be donated to Toys for Tots, and proceeds from the t-shirt sales will benefit the Katbalaoganon Foundation. Come out to show your support!
