Mitichyan to Headline CXF Card

Thursday Night Fight Series with January 29, 2009 MMA Fight at the
EL Monte Expo Center headline by UFC Veteran Roman
Mitichyan. California Xtreme Fighting veterans fight on this
past weekend’s Affliction and WEC cards.
California Xtreme Fighting (“CXF”) debuts its 2009 its 2009 Thursday Night Fight Series with an exciting 10 fight MMA card on January 29, 2009. The card is headlined by UFC veteran Roman Mitichyan (5-2). Mitichyan’s last two fights were televised as part of UFC Fight Night 13 and Ultimate Fighter 6 Finale broadcasts. He has a 1-1 record in those fights. This is not Mitichyan’s first fight for CXF as he is also the reigning CXF Welterweight champion which he won August 19, 2006 after his submission via rear naked choke at 3:50 of the first round over Mike Penalber. Mitichyan’s opponent in this 160lb fight is Jason Meaders (4-7). This is Meader’s first fight for CXF but he has previously fought for King of the Cage, Total Combat, and Chaos in the Cage. Meaders is seeking to start off strong in 2009 after going 3 of 4 fights in 2008. Although Mitichyan’s title is not on the line, this fight promises to be an all out war.

Magakian. Magakian (4-2) is fighting Body Shot’s Darryl
Moore (2-3) in a 3 round. Magakian, who made his pro debut on
the same card where Mitichyan won his title, is on a three fight
winning streak, having won all of his fights in 2008 and is looking
to continue his winning ways in 2009. His opponent, Moore made his
CXF debut during his last fight, a three round victory over ShoXC
veteran, Mike Penefiel, at CXF’s Anarchy at the Arena on April 12,
2008. Moore wants to continue his CXF winning streak while Magakian
seeks to get his fourth straight win. Neither man plans leave a
loser.
There will be an action packed 185 lb. fight when CSW’s Ben “BlitzKreig” Jones (2-2, 1 NC) meets undefeated Riverside Submission fighter Jimmy Stormo. Jones, who won his last fight in October 2008 looks to be beat Stormo who won his professional debut at KOTC’s Misconduct card also in October 2008. Both fighters hope that a victory will propel them to bigger and better fights in 2009. With neither man willing to accept defeat, all out brawl can be expected.
CXF continues to bring exciting MMA action to Southern California fight fans and provides the opportunity for spectators to see up-and-coming fighters as they make their way to the major promotions. CXF’s June 13, 2008 card, The Uprising in Upland, is a prime example of what MMA fans can expect from CXF. That card featured Seth “2 Quick” Dikun as he defeated Martin Bautista in a 3 round fight and was headlined by Bao Quach winning his 7th straight fight with a 1st round victory over Armando Sanchez. On Saturday, January 24, 2009 at the Affliction “Day of Reckoning” Card at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Bao Quach filled in for an injured Mark Hominick and faced IFL veteran L.C. Davis (12-1). Bao, a ShoXC veteran, is riding an 8 fight winning streak. Another Anarchy at the Arena fighter Seth “2 Quick” Dikun faced Charlie Valencia at the WEC card at the San Diego Sports Arena on Sunday, January 25, 2009.
