MMA FIGHT PIT: “GENESIS” WEIGH-INS TAKE PLACE TODAY

(PRESS RELEASE) -- It’s almost fight time, and the weigh-ins are set for MMA Fight Pit’s event this weekend, “Genesis,” which takes place tomorrow, Saturday, August 13th in New Mexico. “Genesis” will take place at world-renowned sporting venue “The Pit,” and is also being broadcasted live on Pay-Per-View. In addition to all the Fight Pit fighters appearing and weighing in, top MMA competitors and Jackson’s MMA members Brian Stann and Melvin “The Young Assassin” Guillard have been confirmed to appear at the weigh-ins, and will be signing autographs for fans. Fans and the media are encouraged to attend!

The weigh-ins will happen today at the Library Bar & Grill in downtown Albuquerque, and will begin at 5 PM MT. The location is 312 Central Avenue Southwest, and the Library holds happy hour from 3-8 PM, and has a free buffet. MMA Fight Pit: “Genesis” commentator and respected journalist Karyn Bryant will also be emceeing the event.

In addition, MMA Fight Pit Co-Owner Torry Crooks will be presenting eight tickets to Shane D'Onofrio, the Executive Director of Whatwouldugive.org. In attendance with Shane will be a few wounded veterans, as well Betsy Ross, the first dog ever to be commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army…she is a sargent. “Giving some soldiers some tickets in return for their sacrifice isn’t nearly enough to compensate them for their heroism, but I hope they will at least take it as a simple gesture of our gratitude.”

The MMA Fight Pit: Genesis” PPV broadcast will feature six electrifying bouts, including a highly-anticipated light heavyweight war between former UFC® competitors Houston “The Assassin” Alexander and “Razor” Razak Al-Hassan in the main event. The co-main event will showcase a bantamweight scrap between two great finishers in MMA legend Jens “Lil’ Evil” Pulver and his opponent, WEC® vet and New Mexico native Coty “Ox” Wheeler. Four other exciting bouts will also be shown live on the PPV broadcast, including a lightweight battle between The Ultimate Fighter® (TUF®) season eight alum Junie “Lunatik” Browning and New Mexico native Jacob Clark, a middleweight clash between TUF® season 11 competitor Jamie Yager and undefeated Jackson MMA product “Slick” Willie Parks, and a heavyweight collision between tough veteran Prince McLean and knockout machine Tyler “The Beast” East. In addition, an exciting women’s bout between Angelica Diaz and Diana Rael will take place on the PPV portion of the card.

A highly-decorated military veteran, Brian Stann (11-3) has won five of his last six bouts, including his last three, and will face Chael Sonnen at UFC® 136, with the winner likely to grab a title shot. A two-time winner of “Fight of the Night” in the UFC®, Stann has garnered a reputation as one of the friendliest and most approachable fighters in MMA today. Melvin Guillard (40-8-2-1) is a teammate of Stann’s at Jackson’s MMA, and is also on a considerable winning streak. “The Young Assassin” has won five straight, and hasn’t tasted defeat in two years. He is also starting to garner attention as a contender for the lightweight belt.
