World Series of Fighting Signs 14-Fight UFC Veteran John ‘Doomsday’ Howard

World Series of Fighting has added another familiar face to its roster: John “Doomsday” Howard.

WSOF President Ray Sefo announced in his ”Executive Action” column on Tuesday that the Las Vegas-based promotion has signed 13-time UFC veteran John Howard. Additionally, WSOF has inked German middleweight Abu Azaitar and agreed to a new deal with lightweight Bryce Mitchell, who made his promotional debut on Jan. 23.

Terms of the contracts were not disclosed. Debut dates for Howard and Azaitar were not revealed.

Howard is coming off a second-round knockout loss to Tim Means at UFC Fight Night in Las Vegas on Dec. 10. That was “Doomsday’s” fourth loss in his last five Octagon appearances, with a split-decision win over Cathal Pendred at UFC 189 his only triumph during that time. Howard went 7-7 over the course of two separate stints with the UFC, earning triumphs over Siyar Bahadurzada, Uriah Hall, Dennis Hallman and Tamdan McCrory, to name a few.

“John has had a few tough losses in recent years, but I believe he still has a lot to offer the sport, and I look forward to him debuting for us later this year,” Sefo wrote.

The 29-year-old Azaitar owns an 11-1-1 career mark and has competed in organizations such as KSW and Cage Warriors Fighting Championship. He has finished seven of his career triumphs by knockout or technical knockout.

Mitchell, known as “Thug Nasty,” improved to 5-0 in his young professional tenure with a 62-second submission of Jorge Medina at WSOF 27. All of Mitchell’s victories have come by way of tapout.
