Gil Guardado vs. Giga Chikadze

Round 1

After 40 seconds of circling and pawing, Guardado shoots on the hips of Chikadze and rushes him against the fence to complete the takedown. Chikadze wraps up the American in closed guard and scoots backward, trying to post and stand up, but Guardado stays heavy on top. Chikadze grabs for a leglock and Guardado stands for a moment, then comes back down to the mat and passes to side control on Chikadze’s left. The Georgian tries to explode out from underneath, can’t escape but does manage to reclaim half guard. Guardado isn’t offering much from on top but is controlling positionally with tons of pressure. With 90 seconds left, he gets some ground strikes going, socking Chikadze in the face with a few good left hands. Chikadze shifts his hips and gets back to full guard, then hunts for an armbar as they enter the final minute of round one. Guardado stands again to escape submission danger and this time gets popped with an upkick before settling back in to half guard on Chikadze’s right side.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Guardado
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Guardado
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Guardado

Round 2

Chikadze leaps at Guardado with a flying knee which misses, but he follows up with a right hand before exiting the pocket. After another slow opening minute, Guardado hits another easy takedown to set up in Chikadze’s full guard, halfway between the fence and the center. Guardado gets going with his ground-and-pound a little faster this time, mixing up short right hands to the ribs and face. Guardado throws a series of six or seven heavy left hands, but all or most of the strikes seem to be partially deflected. Three minutes in, Guardado uses an arm-triangle setup to pass into full mount. Chikadze nearly gives up his back as he tries to escape, but he blocks the pass and gets his left knee in to reclaim half guard. Guardado bounces Chikadze’s head off the mat with four good elbows to the face as the American continues to grind away in the last minute. Chikadze heads back to his corner at the end of the round with a bloody cut on the outside corner of his right eye.

Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Guardado

Round 3

Chikadze manages to stay on his feet through the first minute of the final round, though his offense is mostly limited to leg kicks. Guardado moves around the outside, absorbing some of the kicks and checking others, but doing very little else.

Guardado kept Chikadze on the ground for 15.
After two minutes, Guardado shoots and gets shoved away, but when Chikadze throws another kick a few seconds later, Guardado picks the ankle and puts him on his back. After a short burst of hard punches, Guardado buries his head and works on controlling Chikadze, who is alternating between closed and open guard as he works to escape. Guardado uses the arm-triangle setup to take full mount again, then loses it a few seconds later. Guardado keeps his opponent on the mat until the final bell.

Hakeem Dawodu vs. Marat Magomedov

Round 1

a tense opening minute as the unbeaten featherweights inch around the cage, both testing the range with jabs and low kicks. Seventy seconds in, Magomedov explodes forward with his first takedown attempt, and after a struggle, he puts Dawodu on his back in the center of the cage. Dawodu overpowers the grappler, escaping from underneath by bridging and shoving Magomedov clear away. Dawodu steps forward, trying to get into striking range, but as soon as he does, Magomedov reverses direction and floors him with another takedown. Magomedov stands and tries to tee up Dawodu’s head on the canvas to follow through with a big right hand. Dawodu shifts and dodges the ground-and-pound, and the 145ers spend a solid minute in a stalemate on the ground. There’s a flurry of activity in the final 20 seconds as Dawodu tries to roll out and Magomedov jumps on his back, hunting for a rear-naked choke as time runs out.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Magomedov
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Magomedov
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Magomedov

Round 2

Dawodu spends a minute inching forward in a low stance while Magomedov slides backward toward the fence, even catching “The Dream” with a short right hook. Magomedov gets another takedown but can’t hold Dawodu on the ground, and now they’re back to circling and jabbing in the second minute. Dawodu tags Magomedov with a right hook-left straight combo, his best work of the fight so far, but gets a right hook counter in return. Halfway through the round, Magomedov gets to work on a single-leg takedown, and he brings Dawodu back to the ground after a short struggle. Magomedov passes to side control on Dawodu’s right, now wrapping his far arm around Dawodu’s head and arm to keep control. Dawodu shrimps underneath and rolls to his knees; Magomedov tries to jump on his back again, but Dawodu shakes him off as he stands. Dawodu is stalking with 30 seconds left in the round, closing in on Magomedov near the fence to deliver a knee to the gut. Magomedov catches a flying knee attempt to score one more takedown in the last 20 seconds.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Magomedov
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Magomedov
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Magomedov

Round 3

Dawodu tries to close the gap a little quicker as the final round begins and succeeds in sticking a few jabs on Magomedov’s face in the first minute. A left hook connects for Dawodu, who denies Magomedov’s first takedown attempt about 70 seconds into the frame. Magomedov eats an uppercut and goes shooting again, but he’s shoved away by “The Dream.” The next takedown attempt is a deep one, and Magomedov is able to whip Dawodu to the ground with a high single-leg. Dawodu jumps back up almost immediately and pushes forward on Magomedov, who is clearly fading here and looking to avoid Dawodu’s strikes. Dawodu shuts down another takedown try and puts Magomedov on the fence to deliver a few right hands to the ribs. Magomedov dives for a desperation shot and winds up belly-down on the mat, though Dawodu allows him to stand. An uppercut appears to rock Magomedov, who tries once more and finally completes another takedown. Dawodu powers back to his feet quickly and resumes his march with 60 seconds on the clock.

(+ Enlarge) | Photo: D. Mandel/Sherdog.com

Magomedov crumbled late against Dawodu.
A right hand to the ribs, a left hook upstairs and Magomedov is on roller skates, wobbling backward along the fence. A big right hand sends Magomedov back to his takedown attempts; Dawodu stuffs it and shoves the Dagestan native to his back, then tells referee Mark Smith to stand him up. Smith gives the command to Magomedov, who lies on the canvas with his hands behid his head for a few seconds before slowly working back to his feet. Dawodu blitzes his opponent in the closing seconds, roughing up Magomedov with more punches on the fence, but he can’t find the finish before the horn.

Sherdog Scores

Jonathan Nunez vs. David Jordan

Round 1

Nunez switches between orthodox and southpaw stance in the first minute, swinging and missing with a couple big overhand punches. He slips throwing a high kick but bounces back to his feet before Jordan can capitalize. Jordan ducks under a big right hand and grabs for Nunez’s waist but can’t get hold. The lightweights clinch on the fence, Nunez scoring with a few knees to the body but Jordan controlling the outside position. Nunez takes the outside in the final two minutes but the fight stalls out with neither man able to do much in a tight clinch. Jordan tries for a bodylock takedown, can’t get it, and now they separate with 40 seconds on the clock. Jordan lands a kick to the body and avoids offense from the oncoming Nunez as time runs down.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-10
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Nunez
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-10

Round 2

Nunez zaps Jordan with a straight left hand but doesn’t follow up, and the lightweights go back to circling and trading sporadic strikes. Punches continue to land for Nunez through the first two minutes, while Jordan slings some wild overhand shots and grabs for the waist of “Johnny Boy” when he gets close enough. Nunez steps into the pocket with a knee to the body, but it’s snatched up by Jordan and used to spin Nunez’s back against the fence. They stay there for a few seconds before Jordan releases and misses with a spinning backfist. Nunez tries to walk down Jordan, misses with a pair of high kicks and gets put back on the fence. The fighters stall out in the clinch again, and there’s not much activity to speak of in the last 40 seconds.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Nunez
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Nunez
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Nunez

Round 3

Nunez connects with a right hook, gets backed up by a flurry and then wraps up Jordan to trip him to the ground. The 155ers fight on the floor near the fence, Jordan mostly wrapping up Nunez, trying to avoid strikes until he can jump back to his feet.

(+ Enlarge) | Photo: D. Mandel/Sherdog.com

Nunez eked it out against Jordan.
Nunez keeps applying pressure, however, and gets his arms free for long enough to thump Jordan with punches to the ribs and head. Jordan works back to his feet after about two minutes of being controlled on the mat, only to be taken down again. Nunez stands to work his leg free from a loose heel hook attempt, then comes back down to settle in Jordan’s half guard. It’s more of the same in the final minute, Nunez working on top and staying busy enough to keep Jordan on the ground. Jordan finally gets back to his feet before the 10-second clapper but can’t do anything before time runs out.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Nunez (30-28 Nunez)

Abubakar Nurmagomedov vs. Danny Davis Jr.

Round 1

Nurmagomedov takes 20 seconds before wrapping up Davis with a bodylock and trying for a trip takedown. “Dee1” denies the attempt, reverses Nurmagomedov against the fence and then separates. The next try from Nurmagomedov yields a takedown about 90 seconds into the round. He works from Davis’ open guard, passes to half guard and drops a few right hands. Davis stays busy underneath, shifting and repositioning until he’s able to get back to his feet, but Nurmagomedov is waiting with a big slam takedown. Davis lands in the whizzer this time and gets back to his feet with greater ease, though he’s held on the fence by Nurmagomedov. Referee Kim Winslow warns Nurmagomedov for grabbing the fence as he controls Davis in the clinch. Another suplex puts Davis on the mat, and as he tries to stand, Nurmagomedov jumps on his back. Nurmagomedov starts working for a rear-naked choke immediately, peppering Davis with punches on both sides to try and free up the neck. Davis defends well, while referee Winslow warns Nurmagomedov to mind the strikes to the back of the head. Davis scrapes Nurmagomedov off his back before the end of the round, but cannot get back to his feet.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Nurmagomedov
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Nurmagomedov
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Nurmagomedov

Round 2

Both men connect with jabs in the first minute of the round; the taller Davis tries to mix in some kicks but mostly comes up short. It’s slow going here in the middle frame, with Davis backpedaling while Nurmagomedov tries to close the gap and tie up. After two minutes, Nurmagomedov finally steps inside and goes for a bodylock, but he’s spun around and pressed against the cage by the Las Vegas local. Davis keeps him on the fence for a minute, even trying a single-leg takedown, but the Dagestan fighter stays standing and eventually disengages. Nurmagomedov steps forward in the final minute, walks into a jab from Davis and tries to answer with a flurry, but Davis backs out of range. Nurmagomedov catches a kick and plows Davis to the ground in the final 10 seconds.

(+ Enlarge) | Photo: D. Mandel/Sherdog.com

Davis couldn't stop Nurmagomedov's wrestling.
Nurmagomedov spins to take the back while standing, tries to jump on the American’s back but gets scraped off by the fence. As he tries to corral Davis on the cage, Nurmagomedov grabs the fence again, prompting referee Winslow to separate the fighters and issue a second warning. Ninety seconds remain now, and Nurmagomedov completes another takedown near the fence. Davis tries to work his way back up, but he’s exhausted and Nurmagomedov flattens him out. Nurmagomedov passes to side control just before time expires.

Jake Heun vs. Clinton Williams

Round 1

Heun takes the center of the cage at the onset of the fight, while Williams moves around the edge, switching stances a few times. Williams connects with a few leg kicks before Heun starts finding the mark with his right hand, twice closing the gap to slug the late replacement with punches. Heun is doing well to deflect Williams’ occasional bursts of offense, and now he catches Williams off-balance to knock him to the ground. Heun moves to side control with two minutes left in the round, leaning right to left across Williams’ body. The light heavyweights scramble up and Heun launches a high kick in the transition, then slips to the ground. Williams motions that he was hit in the back of the head, though the strike was legal, and referee Mark Smith pauses the action without explanation. The fight resumes a few seconds later and Heun continues to press forward. A right high kick catches Williams off balance again, knocking him to the ground. Williams scrambles up and finishes the fight holding Heun against the cage.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Heun
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Heun
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Heun

Round 2

After a slow opening minute, Heun tries a leaping head kick and gets driven to the ground by Williams, who sets up in the open guard of the “Honey Bear.” Heun shifts to reclaim full guard, then scrambles back to his feet with just over three minutes on the clock. Williams goes to his back foot again, putting up a high guard whenever the larger Heun swings forward with kicks, punches or a leaping knee. Nonetheless, Heun is getting the better of the exchanges on the feet here, and throwing more volume than Williams as well. Williams tries an ill-timed Superman punch and gets knocked out of the air by a check hook on the temple. Heun stands over his prone opponent and drops a dozen or more punches while referee Smith takes a close look. When the finish doesn’t materialize, Heun comes down to the ground, first to full mount and then off to side control to attempt a kimura. Williams pulls the arm free and survives to hear the horn.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Heun
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Heun
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Heun

Round 3

Heun snaps off a left hook to start the final round, then takes a couple chops to his lead leg courtesy of a pair of Williams leg kicks. Williams hits the body with a switch kick, then back to the legs. Heun answers with a low kick of his own, then gets a glove up to block a hard left hook.

(+ Enlarge) | Photo: D. Mandel/Sherdog.com

Heun couldn't stop Williams.
Williams slips throwing a big left hand, but Heun allows him to regain his footing to continue striking. A quick takedown from Williams leads to an even quicker reversal from Heun, and now it’s the “Honey Bear” holding Williams against the cage as they hit the halfway point of the final round. The pace drops off even more here, both men slowing down, both missing with strikes. Heun digs an underhook and puts Williams on the fence with one minute to go. Williams reverses, but Heun breaks away. Williams comes back, wraps up a double-leg, lifts Heun into the air and runs him across the cage for a big slam in the waning seconds.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Heun (30-27 Heun)

Josh Hill vs. Bekbulat Magomedov

Round 1

The fighters spend the first 90 seconds feeling out the range, not really engaging as the circle the cage. Suddenly, Magomedov rushes forward swinging a wild combination, tries to hold Hill against the fence but gets pushed away. Hill sprawls on Magomedov’s next takedown attempt in the center of the cage, then stuffs another near the fence. Hill lands a single leg kick, then goes back to head-bobbing and feinting. Magomedov has another takedown attempt stuffed, then another, and Hill just misses with a knee to the face as they scramble up. Inside the final minute, Magomedov sticks a nice jab but doesn’t follow up. With 20 seconds on the clock, Hill clinches up and runs Magomedov to the ground, but the Russian springs back up to finish the round on his feet.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-10
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-10
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-10

Round 2

Hill tries to press the action a little more in the first minute of round two, but his reaching combinations come up short as the taller Magomedov slides backward. Magomedov comes forward now, takes a kick to the right rib cage, and the featherweights settle into another period of inactivity. The stalemate continues down the stretch, with neither man fully committing to a standup attack and neither able to bring the other to the ground. Magomedov dodges some more combinations from Hill, grabs for a late takedown and gets denied. The bantamweights trade knees in the clinch just before time runs out.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-10
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Hill
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-10

Round 3

Hill closes the distance to put Magomedov’s back against the fence but cannot hold him there. Magomedov separates and stalks Hill along the edge of the cage, suddenly fighting much closer to the Canadian than in the previous two rounds. Still, neither man lets his hands fly, and now they step back to the center of the cage. Hill tries a combination, gets sidestepped and takes a jab on the nose.

(+ Enlarge) | Photo: D. Mandel/Sherdog.com

Hill just edged out Magomedov.
The 135ers clinch halfway through the round and Magomedov lands a spiky knee to Hill’s gut before being pushed against the fence. They separate 30 seconds later and the pace slows again. Hill is still trying to strike, but Magomedov is playing matador every time to avoid damage. Hill hits a takedown with 40 seconds on the clock and transitions onto Magomedov’s back. Magomedov lands a couple punches over his shoulder as he tries to lock down Hill’s arms and avoid any choke attempts. Hill goes all-out searching for the choke in the final seconds, but it’s too late and time runs out.

Sheymon da Silva Moraes vs. Robbie Peralta

Round 1

Moraes mixes up his strikes in the first minute, firing punches and kicks to the body and head of Peralta, who looks to come over the top with a big punch. Peralta starts throwing some leg kicks, though Moraes’ appear to have more behind them. Moraes steps forward with a left hook to the face and just misses with the right straight behind it. The featherweights clash kicks and Peralta chops out the back leg of Moraes to put the Brazilian on the ground for a second. Peralta flashes an array of kicks later in the round, all dodged by Moraes. The featherweights tangle on the fence in the last 20 seconds, Peralta on the outside but neither gaining an advantage.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Moraes
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Moraes
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Moraes

Round 2

More leg kicks from both men open the second stanza, with Peralta sending a few side kicks to Moraes’ body as he tries to work the Brazilian toward the fence. Moraes clears the American out of range by stepping forward with a sledgehammer right hand, and now Moraes keeps the pressure coming to move Peralta around the outside.

(+ Enlarge) | Photo: D. Mandel/Sherdog.com

Moraes' hooks blew Peralta away.
Moraes throws some side kicks of his own, puts a hard kick across Peralta’s midsection. Peralta takes a right hook to the gut and winces, then indicates it might have landed low but gets no break. Moraes closes in on Peralta near the fence and lands a left hook, then ducks under Peralta’s return fire and comes back upstairs to connect with another left hand which Peralta never sees coming. Peralta hits the deck in a daze, and the standing Moraes polishes him off with a few more punches before referee Winslow stops the bout.

The Official Result

Sheymon Moraes def. Robbie Peralta via TKO (Punches) R2 3:21

Ozzy Dugulubgov vs. Nic Herron-Webb

Round 1

Dugulubgov hits an early takedown and sets up in Herron-Webb’s open guard, roughing up the Alaskan with ground-and-pound. Herron-Webb is sliced open above his left eyebrow as he’s muscled over toward the fence, Dugulubgov staying heavy on top. When they hit the fence, Herron-Webb tries to work his way up and escape, but Dugulubgov flattens him out again and continues to work his heavy top game. Referee Mark Smith calls for time and calls the cageside physician to check on Herron-Webb’s cut. He’s quickly cleared to continue, and the fight resumes with just under one minute on the clock. Dugulubgov dodges a side kick and whips around to tag Herron-Webb with a spinning back kick. An uppercut scores for Dugulubgov, and he catches a low kick to slug Herron-Webb with a right hand over the top in the last 10 seconds.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Dugulubgov
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Dugulubgov
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Dugulubgov

Round 2

Dugulubgov continues to find a target for his big right hand in the opening minute of round two. One punch sends Herron-Webb stumbling backward, but he bounces off the fence and charges back at Dugulubgov to hit a takedown. Dugulubgov sweeps straight away and winds up in Herron-Webb’s guard about 90 seconds into the round. Dugulubgov looks to be framing up an arm-triangle choke as he works to pass guard, but he gives it up halfway through the round in favor of maintaining top position and landing short left hands. Referee Smith orders the fighters back to their feet with 2:00 on the clock after a period of inactivity. Dugulubgov misses with a lunging right hand but succeeds in getting close enough to wrap up Herron-Webb and trips him back to the ground.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Dugulubgov
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Dugulubgov
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Dugulubgov

Round 3

Herron-Webb looks to press the action as the final round begins, likely knowing he’s down two rounds to none, but he can’t get a beat on Dugulubgov, who continually angles out of range. Dugulubgov comes away from one exchange holding his right eye, having taken a finger from Herron-Webb’s outstretched hand, and referee Smith pauses the action. Dugulubgov recovers after 30 seconds and the lightweights get back to work with just under four minutes left to fight.

(+ Enlarge) | Photo: D. Mandel/Sherdog.com

Dugulubgov won all three rounds.
Dugulubgov floors Herron-Webb with another takedown, then stays heavy on top as the Alaskan tries to use butterfly hooks to elevate and sweep. Dugulubgov puts a forearm across his opponent’s throat and grinds away as the pace slows, and now referee Smith wants them back up on their feet. Dugulubgov lands yet another takedown with 90 seconds remaining, and now Herron-Webb creeps his left leg up into rubber guard. The position goes nowhere, so Herron-Webb switches to a kimura. This submission attempt draws a grimace from Dugulubgov, but Herron-Webb runs out of time.

Lance Palmer vs. Marcos Alexandre Campos de Almeida

Round 1

John McCarthy is the referee for tonight’s 145-pound championship main event. Almeida takes the center of the cage as the bout begins, towering over the champion Palmer, who cuts angles around the outside. Palmer gets through with a few good punches, stepping into range to deliver right hands and then dipping back out of range. Almeida puts a kick across Palmer’s body, but the champion uses the proximity to score a takedown. “Capitao” throws up a triangle or armbar from underneath, forcing Palmer to stand and abandon his ground work. Halfway through the opening round, Almeida lunges at Palmer and gets caught with an overhand left. Palmer catches another kick and slams Almeida to the ground violently with 90 seconds left in the frame. Almeida leans to his right, maybe looking for a kimura, but Palmer buries his head and draws his arms in tight to the challenger’s body. Palmer puts a few short left hands on Almeida’s body as the round ticks down, while the Brazilian ends the round attempting a straight armbar from guard.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Palmer
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Almeida
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Almeida

Round 2

Palmer waits for a low kick and latches onto Almeida’s right leg, digging for a takedown. Almeida stuffs the attempt and then tries to toss the wrestler over his leg, and now it’s Palmer’s turn to deny the Brazilian. Almeida gets hold of Palmer again and pushes him to the fence with an underhook. The 145ers stall out there, and referee McCarthy resets them in the center with just under 3:00 on the clock. Palmer plants a hand and tries a capoeira kick, but Almeida dodges it and puts his hands on his hips to taunt the champ. Palmer hits a takedown, can’t keep Almeida on the mat, and now they’re back to striking in the last two minutes. There’s not much action on the feet until they’re inside the last minute of the round, when Almeida throws out a slow kick and Palmer uses it to drag him to the mat. Again, the challenger is able to work back to his feet rather quickly, and the featherweights finish the frame standing.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Almeida
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Almeida
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Almeida

Round 3

Almeida fends off a takedown and pops Palmer with a punch, then follows him around the edge of the cage, raising his hands with a bit of Diaz style taunting for the champ. Palmer lands a body kick, eats a right hand in return, then another punch lands for Almeida as he continues to walk down “The Party.” Palmer throws all his weight into a trip takedown attempt and gets absolutely stuffed by Almeida, who has really taken control of the fight over these last couple rounds despite doing only mild damage. Almeida lights up Palmer with a pair of punches, prompting the American to shoot for a takedown while the Brazilian is still swinging for more. Almeida’s back is on the mat for only a few seconds before he bounces back up and resumes his stalking. More punching combos connect for Almeida down the stretch, keeping Palmer out of range and unable to implement any meaningful offense.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Almeida
Tristen Critchfield scores the round 10-9 Almeida
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Almeida

Round 4

Almeida sticks to the formula that’s been working for him so far, firing off long kicks and hard right hands which keep the much shorter Palmer moving along the outside. Palmer just keeps circling with his back near the fence, stopping to lob the occasional overhand bomb which Almeida sidesteps before pushing forward again. Palmer times a low kick from Almeida and snatches up the leg to run the challenger against the fence.
