An ankle injury has forced Tachi Palace Fights bantamweight champion Ian Loveland to withdraw from his scheduled TPF 17 headliner against fellow UFC vet Jared Papazian.
TPF matchmaker Richard Goodman informed Sherdog.com of the news on Tuesday, revealing that Papazian will instead face 12-fight pro Russell Doane in the Nov. 14 main event, which takes place at Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, Calif.
A veteran of EliteXC and King of the Cage competition, Doane most recently saw a two-fight winning streak snapped in his Aug. 9 appearance under the Pacific Xtreme Combat banner, dropping a split decision to Guamanian talent Kyle Aguon at PXC 38.
Papazian, 25, has gone 3-1 since his departure from the UFC last year and rides back-to-back victories into his TPF debut, outpointing John Robles at the World Series of Fighting’s fourth event this past August before stopping 20-fight veteran Jeff Martin with strikes last month.
