Weigh-in Results: Gray Maynard, Nate Diaz Cleared for ‘TUF 18’ Finale Main Event

some unfinished business to settle.
Maynard tipped the scales at 156 pounds for his rematch with Diaz (156) in “The Ultimate Fighter 18” Finale main event on Saturday at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The four participants in the Season 18 finals -- Chris Holdsworth (136) vs. Davey Grant (135) and Julianna Pena (134) vs. Jessica Rakoczy (132) -- also met their contracted weight requirements at Friday’s official weigh-in.

Diaz and Maynard are keenly familiar with each other, as they have squared off twice previously: Diaz submitted “The Bully” with a guillotine choke during an exhibition bout as part of Season 5 of “The Ultimate Fighter,” while Maynard settled for a split decision against the 28-year-old Cesar Gracie protégé at UFC Fight Night 20 in January 2010.
A three-time NCAA All-American wrestler at Michigan State University, Maynard last appeared at UFC 160 in May, when he wilted under first-round punches from surging Canadian contender T.J. Grant. Diaz, meanwhile, has not fought since his technical knockout loss to former Strikeforce champion Josh Thomson at UFC on Fox 7 in April.
“The Ultimate Fighter 18” Finale -- which airs live on Fox Sports 1 at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT -- will feature a pair of women’s bantamweight scraps, as Jessamyn Duke (135.5) meets Peggy Morgan (136) and Roxanne Modafferi (134) faces Raquel Pennington (135).
Two hours prior, Fox Sports 1 will also carry four preliminary bouts: Maximo Blanco (146) vs. Akira Corassani (146), Tom Niinimaki (145) vs. Rani Yahya (145.5), Jared Rosholt (240) vs. Walter Harris (244) and Drew Dober (170) vs. Sean Spencer (171). The remaining undercard clash will stream to the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s Facebook page at 7:30 p.m. ET/4:30 p.m. PT, as world-ranked flyweight Joshua Sampo (127.5) locks horns with fellow Octagon newcomer Ryan Benoit (126).
