Warren Not Injured; Grant to Face Sato at Vale Tudo Japan

Grant will face Rumina Sato in
a featherweight bout at
Vale Tudo Japan 2009 on Oct. 30 at the JCB Hall in Tokyo,
Shooto promoter Sustain announced Friday. The promotion said Grant
will replace an injured Joe Warren,
who had previously been annnounced to face Sato. The bout will be
contested at 138 pounds.
Warren’s Team Quest management told Sherdog.com Friday that Warren isn’t injured, despite the promotion’s announcement that he was. The rep said the fighter and promotion could not reach terms for the Sato matchup, but that Warren is healthy and preparing for a potential bout on New Year’s Eve.
The undefeated Grant is a Team Quest member alongside Warren and also wrestled with him at the University of Michigan.
Sato is a Shooto favorite and former 143-pound Pacific Rim champion.
