War Machine Jailed Again; Lozano Completes Season 6 WW Draw

War Machine is apparently heading back to the big house.

The fighter formerly known as Jon Koppenhaver announced Thursday on Twitter that he has been sentenced to another year in jail stemming from an alleged confrontation that occurred over one year ago in Nevada.

“Seems my year in jail wasn’t enough. [I] just got sentenced to another year in Vegas for some old bulls--t,” the fighter wrote. “Never mind I’m rehabilitated. Never mind I’ve been out for over six months now doing great and am finally back on my feet. Never mind all my students that will miss me. Do another year and rot and waste time. Make no money, pay no taxes. Whatever. I just hope my boy Ben Saunders wins [Bellator’s] tournament.”

War Machine was released from jail in July after serving a one year sentence on a felony assault conviction unrelated to his current charge. The California native returned to competition on Nov. 26, knocking out fellow UFC vet Roger Huerta in the third round.

The fighter then signed with the Bellator Fighting Championships in December, joining the Season 6 welterweight tournament field. The 30-year-old was slated to square off with French talent Karl Amoussou in the quarterfinals, but that bout will not come to fruition.

Instead, two-time tournament veteran Chris Lozano will take War Machine’s spot in the welterweight field. Sherdog.com confirmed the news with a source close to the fighter on Friday.

The 29-year-old debuted impressively with Bellator in 2010, finishing former UFC competitor Yoshiyuki Yoshida at Bellator 31. Though he was turned away by former Bellator king Lyman Good in the quarterfinals of the Season 4 tournament, Lozano would rebound with three-straight victories, outpointing Brent Weedman in the opening round of the Season 5 draw before being brutally knocked out by Douglas Lima in the Oct. 8 semifinals.
