On June 19, 2004, the World Kickboxing Association - USA will hold an elimination tournament to determine the best fighters in the nation and to select members for the United States WKA National Team that will qualify to represent the USA in the WKA North American Championships and the WKA World Championships on September 13-19, 2004 in Basel, Switzerland. This year's WKA World Championships will be hosted by Thomas Kastl in conjunction with a European K-1 event. The best of the best in the world will compete in one tournament to determine the true amateur world champions.

The 2004 nationals will not only feature the top amateurs from across the U.S. vying for the WKA US title, but will be preceeded by a Muay Thai training camp. The camp will be hosted by Kru Vut Kamnark (UWMTA) and will feature top Muay Thai trainers Bunkerd Fairtex and Pongsan Ek-Yotin. This will be a great opportunity for competitors and practitioners alike. The camp will feature instruction for all levels: beginner, intermediate, advanced. It will cover not only fighter training, but coaching techniques as well. Participants will have three tracks to choose from: Full Camp, Competitor/Camp, Tournament Competitor. The elimination tournament will consist of two, 2-minute rounds (2x2) with a one-minute rest period.

The elimination tournament will consist of two, 2-minute rounds (2x2) with a one-minute rest period. In the event of a tie, a third round will be used. All finals will consist of three 2-minute rounds (3x2) with one-minute rest periods. Selected finals of each division will be held over for the evening show. Competitors will be required to wear headgear and shin guards (Muay Thai), foot guards (Kickboxing and Full Contact), along with boxing gloves during all elimination rounds. Competitors should be prepared to compete in several matches to determine the nation's best and to gain the prestige of representing their country on the WKA USA National team.

Participants in these WKA US National team trials should be of amateur status as defined by the WKA as follows: No amateur shall have signed a professional (boxing, kickboxing, MMA) contract or fought for any monetary compensation or participated in any tournament or matches exceeding the duration of five rounds of three minutes each. Furthermore, no person shall hold ranking in any professional list (i.e., WKA, ISKA, IKF, KICK, etc).
