Jung, 22, carries a 10-1 mark in MMA. The colorfully nicknamed "Korean Zombie" rose to prominence in the Sengoku ring last year, where he competed in the promotion's featherweight tournament. He was ousted in the quarterfinals by eventual champion Masanori Kanehara in a controversial decision in May.
In recent action, Jung was disqualified in a Feb. 13 kickboxing bout against former Lumpini stadium champion Pajonsuk SKV at an "It's Showtime" event in the Netherlands. Jung knocked Pajonsuk out with a spinning backfist in the first frame, ignorant to the fact that the promotion doesn’t allow spinning backfists under its rule set.
According to his representation, Jung's WEC debut may come as soon as April 24 at WEC 48, the promotion's first pay-per-view venture, headlined by Jose Aldo's featherweight title defense against Urijah Faber. The most likely opponent for Jung is said to be Cub Swanson, though bout agreements have not been issued as yet.
