Uriah Hall-Thiago ‘Marreta’ Middleweight Clash Booked for UFC 175 in Las Vegas

A middleweight showdown between Uriah Hall and Thiago Santos is now slated for UFC 175.

UFC officials Tuesday announced the booking, which takes place July 5 at Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The UFC 175 main card airs live on pay-per-view and will be topped by a middleweight title clash between reigning champion Chris Weidman and former light heavyweight ruler Lyoto Machida.

Hall, 29, rebounded from back-to-back losses in his most recent outing, stopping Chris Leben this past December at UFC 168. The former Ring of Combat champion introduced himself to UFC fans last year during a dominant run on “The Ultimate Fighter 17” before falling to Kelvin Gastelum in a split decision at the live finale. Hall, who owns all but one of his wins via stoppage, then came up short against veteran John Howard, who edged Hall in another split verdict last August.

Santos has gone 2-2 in his last four outings after beginning his career with seven straight victories. “Marreta” submitted to a Cezar Ferreira guillotine choke in his Octagon debut last summer but rebounded from the 47-second defeat to stop Ronny Markes in just 53 seconds last month at UFC Fight Night 39.
