Paige VanZant wanted a new UFC contract, and the strawweight star didn’t have to wait long to have her wish fulfilled.

VanZant will begin her new deal with a 115-pound showdown against Scottish striker Joanne Calderwood at UFC Fight Night on Dec. 10. The event takes place at The Chelsea at the Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas and will air on Fight Pass.

“12 Gauge” took to Twitter on Thursday to announce that she has signed a new contract with the Las Vegas-based promotion and that her next opponent was “lined up.” Shortly thereafter, ESPN.com reported that VanZant would face Calderwood in the UFC Fight Night main event. The news comes just one day after UFC Tonight reported that VanZant was awaiting a new deal before agreeing to her next fight in the Octagon.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. VanZant earned a reported $24,000 (including a $12,000 win bonus) for her third-round submission victory over Alex Chambers at UFC 191 on Sept. 5. The victory improved the 21-year-old Team Alpha Male representative to 6-1 in her burgeoning professional career. VanZant is unbeaten in three Octagon appearances.

Calderwood, meanwhile, is 2-1 in the Octagon, including a three-round verdict over Cortney Casey in her most recent outing at UFC Fight Night in Glasgow on July 18. The Dinky Ninjas product is 10-1 as a professional, and has finished four of her triumphs by knockout or technical knockout.
