Unbeaten Aussie Whittaker, ‘Tornado’ Song Join Legend 6 Card

Australian welterweight prospect Robert Whittaker and Korean “Tornado” Un Sik Song are among the latest additions to the fight card for Legend Fighting Championships 6.

Officials from the Hong Kong-based promotion Monday confirmed seven bouts for the Oct. 30 bill, which takes place at the City of Dreams casino resort in Macau.

The show -- Legend’s second at its new home venue -- is set to be topped by a lightweight title bout between champion Adrian Pang and Sengoku veteran Jadamba Narantungalag. The company’s inaugural featherweight ace will not be crowned at the event as previously speculated; tournament finalists Fransino Tirta and Mark Striegl are instead slated meet at the as-yet-unannounced Legend 7.

At 20 years of age, the New Zealand-born, Australia-raised Whittaker (Pictured) carries a perfect 7-0 record into his Legend debut, having stopped all comers inside two rounds. Attempting to hand Whittaker his first defeat will be South Korea’s Hoon Kim, 31, who sports a 1-1 mark in the Legend ring and looks to rebound from a January title loss to Rodney MacSwain.

Once considered among the top lightweight prospects in Asia, Song’s career was put on hold in 2007 when he entered the Korean military. Since returning to action in April 2010, the 26-year-old has gone 2-2, a statistic he will try to improve upon when he meets Rob Hill at Legend 6. An Australian who has trained stateside with Matt Hughes, Hill is 0-2 in Legend competition, having falling to Koreans A Sol Kwon and Yui Chul Nam.

In other bouts, Chinese slugger Wenbo Liu will face tough New Zealander and fellow Legend newcomer Sam “Striker” Brown at light heavyweight; former Cage Force lightweight Koji Ando will tangle with Chinese standup specialist Guan Wang; eliminated featherweight tournament participants Yusuke Kawanago and Chengjie Wu will clash with eyes on a future title shot; and Hong Kong’s Vincent Siu will square off against Narantungalag pupil Danaa Batgerel at bantamweight.
