A flyweight title main event between UFC veteran Ulysses Gomez and reigning Cage Warriors Fighting Championship titlist Neil Seery has been canceled after Gomez collapsed while cutting weight for the CWFC 62 headliner.

CWFC officials announced the news on Friday, revealing that Gomez was taken to a Newcastle, England, hospital via ambulance earlier today. While the CWFC statement asserted that Gomez had “recovered well,” the English promotion nevertheless decided to cancel the bout as a precaution.

CWFC 62 takes place Dec. 7 at Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle and will now be headlined by a 160-pound catchweight contest pitting UFC alum Curt Warburton against Wesley Murch.

A former two-division Tachi Palace Fights champion, Gomez, 30, joined the UFC last year on the heels of back-to-back victories. The Californian struggled in the Octagon, however, suffering a first-round knockout to John Moraga before dropping a unanimous decision to Phil Harris and receiving his UFC release this past February.
