Omari Akhmedov vs. Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos

Round 1

Dos Santos fires off an early front kick, and it’s countered by an Akhmedov right hand. Akhmedov comes over the top with another counter right, then gets checked by a leg kick from “Capoeira.” Ninety seconds in, Akhmedov breaks the striking stalemate by changing levels and driving dos Santos to the mat with a double-leg takedown. Dos Santos grabs for a heel hook from the bottom, can’t get the tap but uses the submission threat to sweep into top position. Dos Santos passes to half guard and Akhmedov immediately finds a kimura on the kneeling Brazilian’s dangling right arm. The hold looks deep, Akhmedov cranking the arm with eyes closed, but dos Santos finds the angle to pull the limb free. Akhmedov scrambles back to his feet with about 90 seconds left in round one. Dos Santos lands a leg kick, misses with a spinning strike aimed at Akhmedov’s head. Akhmedov paws with a few jabs and makes dos Santos miss with another spinning kick. Dos Santos shoots just before the horn and is stuffed by the Dagestan native.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Akhmedov
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Akhmedov
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-10

Round 2

Dos Santos opens with more leg kicks and then takes the legs out from underneath Akhmedov with a right hand to the temple. Akhmedov regains his footing, clasps his arms around dos Santos’ legs and drives the Brazilian to the ground. Back up comes dos Santos, but he’s decked by four or five hard right hands from Akhmedov on the way up. The welterweights are back to trading strikes, and Akhmedov slips a right hand from dos Santos and counters on the other side. A hard leg kick connects for Dos Santos, but he runs into the pocket with his hands down and gets clubbed by another Akhmedov right hook. Akhmedov looks for a takedown or clinch, gets spun around against the fence, and now the 170-pounders disengage again. Akhmedov shoots and completes another takedown midway through the round but has to bail when dos Santos grabs for another heel hook. The sequence repeats, and this time dos Santos uses the leg to get back on top. Akhmedov posts and stands, then breaks free of dos Santos with 90 seconds on the clock. Both men look to be fading a bit toward the end of the round, with lots of heavy breathing and missed punches.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 dos Santos
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 dos Santos
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Akhmedov

Round 3

Dos Santos once again takes the center of the cage and begins to work Akhmedov around the outside. The Brazilian looks the fresher of the two men as he jabs and kicks at Akhmedov, keeping measured in his striking. “Capoeira” denies a takedown attempt and slugs Akhmedov with a right hand, then a pair of knees. Akhmedov gets backed up to the fence, where he absorbs more strikes and is stuffed on another takedown try. Dos Santos is pouring it on now, absolutely clobbering Akhmedov with right hooks and combinations. Akhmedov won’t go down and backpedals around the perimeter of the fence, but dos Santos catches up with him and the punishment continues. Body shots, more punches, now knees crash into Akhmedov’s face. Referee Dan Miragliotta implores Akhmedov to defend himself, and when it becomes clear that he cannot, Miragliotta stops the fight.

The Official Result

Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos def. Omari Akhmedov via TKO (Knees and Punches) R3 3:03

Oluwale Bamgbose vs. Cezar Ferreira

Round 1

The southpaw Ferreira catches Bamgbose stepping into the pocket and pops him with a straight left, then nearly sends the American to the ground with a chopping leg kick. Bamgbose resets and hits “Mutante” with a nice low kick of his own before forcing the Brazilian to cover up and backpedal with a flurry of heavy punches. The next barrage of strikes from Bamgbose sees a right hand sneak through and puts Ferreira on his back at the base of the fence. Bamgbose tries to pound out his wounded foe, but Ferreira clutters up his guard and clears the cobwebs before powering back to his feet. Ferreira evades another attack, changes levels and goes to the ground atop Bamgbose, who absorbs a couple hard punches before he’s able to escape. Two minutes left in the hectic first round, and Bamgbose switches stances to give lefty Ferreira another look. The pace slows now, with nearly a minute without a significant strike landed for either man. Bamgbose stuffs a level change and stands over the prone Ferreira, looking for an opening to strike. “Mutante” keeps his legs swirling, threatening with an upkick until the horn sounds to end the frame.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Bamgbose
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Bamgbose
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Bamgbose

Round 2

Ferreira scores with a running knee to the body of Bamgbose before taking down the New Yorker inside the first minute of the frame. Bamgbose closes his guard around Ferreira, who is leaking blood all over him from top position, the result of a cut on the head from round one. Ferreira postures up with a can opener, trying to make things uncomfortable for Bamgbose, who scores with a few good hammerfists off his back. Both men are a bloody mess as they grapple at the base of the fence, now midway through the round and the bout. Bamgbose grabs the fence, trying to angle off, and he receives a verbal warning for the infraction from referee Herb Dean. Ferreira just yanks Bamgbose away from the wall and continues to drop elbows as the last two minutes tick down. Bamgbose is sporting a nasty hematoma in the center of his forehead; he’s still punching back from the bottom, but there’s no sense that he’ll escape any time soon. Finally with 10 seconds left in the round, Bamgbose kicks away Ferreira and explodes to his feet, but time runs out before he can do anything.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Ferreira
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Ferreira
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-8 Ferreira

Round 3

It’s a slow start to the final frame as Ferreira holds the center of the cage and waits for Bamgbose to mount some offense, the Brazilian no doubt aware that he is in control of the fight after a dominant second round. Bamgbose is still moving, still throwing, but mostly pulling up short as Ferreira evades his telegraphed strikes. After about two minutes of this, Ferreira times a level change and tries to take Bamgbose back to the mat. “The Holy War Angel” keeps his footing this time and goes back to circling the edge of the cage. Ferreira comes shooting again, avoids a loose guillotine attempt and this time succeeds in planting Bamgbose on the mat. Bamgbose tries to push off the fence and is warned again for grabbing the chain-link. Down to the final minute, Ferreira works from Bamgbose’s open guard, keeping heavy top pressure and throwing the occasional punch. Referee Dean tells the fighters to work; Bamgbose responds by kicking Ferreira backwards and once again jumping back to his feet. Same as in round two, however, Bamgbose stands with only seconds left on the clock and cannot accomplish anything.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Ferreira (29-28 Ferreira)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Ferreira (29-28 Ferreira)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Ferreira (29-27 Ferreira)

John Dodson vs. Manny Gamburyan

Round 1

Gamburyan backpedals to evade a straight left hand from the speedy southpaw Dodson, who takes up his position in the center of the cage. Dodson scores with a front kick to the body and then steps out on Gamburyan with a pair of short left hands to the chin. Gamburyan is stunned and drops to his seat at the base of the fence, where Dodson polishes him off with a quick barrage of follow-up uppercuts, forcing referee James Warring into action. John Dodson returns to the bantamweight division with a lightning-fast stoppage in round one.

The Official Result

John Dodson def. Manny Gamburyan via TKO (Punches) R1 0:47

Randy Brown vs. Michael Graves

Round 1

Graves switches between stances in the opening moments, swiping Brown’s face with a counter left hook from southpaw. The American Top Team fighter shoots on Brown’s legs and drives him against the fence; Brown keeps his footing by widening his base, then drives a pair of elbow strikes to the side of Graves’ head. Brown spins to the outside position, putting Graves’ back against the cage. The welterweights trade knees to the body as they work in close quarters, and now Graves reclaims the outside spot. Graves drops levels, switches from a double- to a single-leg, then back to a double, but Brown still won’t go down. Referee Dan Miragliotta splits up the clinching fighters, and moments later, Brown rocks Graves with a wrap-around right hand. Graves hits the deck momentarily but gets to his knees and drives forward to finally complete a takedown, instantly taking away Brown’s momentum. Graves lands short ground-and-pound as he dodges triangle and armbar attempts from the rangy Brown in the final minute of round one. Brown finally cinches up a triangle choke with 10 seconds remaining but Graves breaks it up and escapes before the horn.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Graves
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Graves
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Graves

Round 2

Graves finds success with another takedown, this time much earlier in the round. He lands sporadic ground-and-pound through the first minute but is having trouble navigating Brown’s long limbs, which are entangling him from underneath. Graves briefly passes to half guard, gets put back in full guard and postures up to throw more strikes. Brown tries to roll away and winds up on his knees near the fence, allowing Graves to jump on his back. Graves quickly flattens out the belly-down Brown, slaps on a deep rear-naked choke and forces a near-instant tap.

The Official Result

Michael Graves def. Randy Brown via Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) R2 2:31

Court McGee vs. Santiago Ponzinibbio

Round 1

McGee comes out diving for the legs of Ponzinibbio, who denies the American’s first takedown attempt. McGee comes over the top with a pair of right hands, lands a kick to the body and drops to his knees, but again Ponzinibbio stuffs the shot. The left side of Ponzinibbio’s face is already marked up, just one minute into the bout, from McGee’s early punches. Another two or three cracking right hands connect for McGee, but Ponzinibbio eats them and returns fire with a clean right of his own. Ponzinibbio is starting to find his range now, standing in the pocket and attaking McGee with straight rights and low kicks. McGee grabs for his opponent’s legs but again comes up with nothing. McGee flashes hands in Ponzinibbio’s face but can’t find the mark. “The Crusher” tries an awkward shot from a mile out and gets absolutely torched by a right cross from Ponzinibbio, square on the jaw. McGee hits the deck, stands up and tries to fight back, but Ponzinibbio smells blood and unloads with a massive sequence fo follow-up punches. McGee hits the ground again, turtling up on his knees, and referee Herb Dean has seen enough. Santiago Ponzinibbio picks up an impressive first-round stoppage, becoming the first man to stop Court McGee.

The Official Result

Santiago Ponzinibbio def. Court McGee via TKO (Punches) R1 4:15

Bethe Correia vs. Raquel Pennington

Round 1

After a slow opening minute which sees both women testing the range with jabs and kicks, Correia begins sticking a few jabs on Pennington’s face. Pennington steps into the pocket with a straight right hand, clinches with Correia and shoves the Brazilian against the fence. Correia shoves her off and the bantamweights come back to the center of the cage. Pennington lands a leg kick but drops her left hand low and eats a counter hook. Now it’s Correia who whiffs on an attack and gets slugged with a left hook, followed by a straight right. Pennington ducks under a combination and pops back up to tag Correia with a right hook. Inside the final minute, Pennington looks to clinch but instead is run against the wall. Correia puts her weight on her opponent and traps Pennington on the fence until the end of the round.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Pennington
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Pennington
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Pennington

Round 2

Pennington tries to clinch and gets swarmed with a bunch of winging hooks from Correia, forcing the American to disengage. Correia takes a knee to the body and strikes back with a left-handed counter. Correia grabs the collar tie and lands an uppercut, then comes away smiling at Pennington. The action continues to come in fits and starts as they hit the midway mark, with flurries of activity breaking up stretches of awkward circling and close-quarters pawing. Correia sticks a jab, catches Pennington coming inside and wraps her up on the fence again. Pennington gets the Thai clinch and spins Correia against the wall to deliver a pair of knees, then some short elbows. Two more hard knees dig into Correia’s body, then an elbow upstairs just before the horn.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Correia
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Pennington
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Correia

Round 3

Pennington lands a leaping kick and a hook behind it, but as she steps in to clinch, Correia swings more short hooks in the phone booth. The 135ers disengage briefly and then tie up again to trade some ugly punches. Halfway through the final round, neither woman has taken control of the frame. Right on cue, Correia dives on Pennington’s legs and goes looking for a takedown. Pennington stays standing by backing up against the fence, but she’s pinned there by Correia. The fighters trade knees inside before separating, now with 1:40 on the clock. Pennington sticks a jab, a left hook, a knee to the body, and Correia swipes back with a left hook of her own. Pennington works a few more knees to the body, denies a clinch from Correia and sweeps her away with a hook. Correia takes a left hand to the body before being shoved against the fence. Pennington nearly works a trip takedown but Correia keeps her balance. The 10-second clapper sounds and both women go wild throwing strikes, but it’s Pennington who gets the better of the final exchange with clinch knees.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Pennington (29-28 Pennington)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Pennington (30-27 Pennington)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Pennington (29-28 Pennington)

Raquel Pennington def. Bethe Correia via Split Decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-29) R3 5:00

Beneil Dariush vs. Michael Chiesa

Round 1

Chiesa flicks out a leg kick before he’s backed up by Dariush testing the range with jabs. Dariush’s first significant strikes come with a pair of hard chops to Chiesa’s lead leg. A left hook on the chin keeps Chiesa on his back foot, but Dariush whiffs with his follow-up punches. Dariush slips a few punches from Chiesa and continues scoring with leg kicks. From the southpaw stance, Dariush clips Chiesa with another left, then slugs with another thumping leg kick. Two minutes in, Dariush looks to clinch and shoves Chiesa against the wall. “Maverick” reverses and breaks away with a left hand, and now it’s the “TUF” winner pushing forward. Dariush clinches again, looking for a takedown, but Chiesa snuffs it out and the lightweights wind up in the whizzer. They scramble up, now with 90 seconds on the clock, and jockey for position in a Greco-Roman clinch. After separating, Dariush scores with another kick, slides his head out of the way of two straight punches and takes down Chiesa just before time expires.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Dariush
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Dariush
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Dariush

Round 2

Dariush lands flush with two more kicks to Chiesa’s right knee in the first 10 seconds of the round. However, Chiesa denies another clinch takedown attempt from Dariush and turns it into a takedown of his own. Dariush winds up kneeling near the fence, allowing Chiesa to climb on his back and establish both hooks. Chiesa slaps on a rear-naked choke but can’t get under the chin; he tries to finish with a face crank but Dariush won’t tap. Dariush climbs back to his feet with Chiesa still attached to his back. Chiesa is still trying to work his right arm underneath the chin, and now he finds the opening. Dariush grimaces and tries to peel away Chiesa’s hands, but the choke is tight and he’s forced to submit.

The Official Result

Michael Chiesa def. Beneil Dariush via Submission (Rear-Naked Choke) R2 1:20

Cub Swanson vs. Hacran Dias

Round 1

Dias opens with a nice leg kick but is soon put on his back foot as Swanson steps forward, threatening to strike. Another leg kick scores for the Brazilian, then another; through a minute and a half, they’re the best offense in the fight so far. Dias mixes it up with a switch kick, steps off the fence and slugs Swanson with a right hand, but he takes one in return, too. Swanson slaps at Dias’ legs with a few kicks, though the Nova Uniao fighter’s shots look to have more behind them. Swanson switches to southpaw stance, gets a kick to the midsection and gives Dias a kick to the lead leg. Back to orthodox goes Swanson with 90 seconds on the clock, but Dias slips out of the way of a wide combination. Now it’s Swanson evading a wild pair of punches and tapping Dias with a jab to the belly. Dias catches Swanson leaning over and clips him with a quick uppercut. Swanson sees Dias’ first takedown attempt coming from a mile away and easily snuffs it out, so Dias closes out the round with another leg kick and a pair of punches upstairs.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-10
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Dias
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Dias

Round 2

Dias hits Swanson with another leg kick in the opening seconds of round two, but a sweeping overhand left from the American catches Dias on the chin and sends him to the canvas. Swanson pounces and tries to pound out the dazed Dias, who tangles up from underneath and tries to control the situation. Swanson stands and looks for an opening, but when he kneels back in Dias’ guard, the Brazilian easily wraps him up to avoid ground-and-pound. Dias posts, stands and comes straight after Swanson, now 90 seconds into the round. Swanson does well to dodge Dias’ punches and slugs back with a whipping right hook to the ribs. A check left hook scores for Swanson, then an inside leg kick, and suddenly Dias’ offense has disappeared. Swanson kicks his way forward and Dias gets hold of a leg, but Swanson yanks the limb back and separates. A leg kick from Swanson sends Dias to the floor momentarily, but he’s back up before Swanson can capitalize. Dias hits Swanson with a pair of hooks on the way up, and now the featherweights grin at one another. They slap hands and Dias attacks immediately afterward, though his punches can’t locate Swanson as he dashes away.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Swanson
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Swanson
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Swanson

Round 3

Dias comes forward to clinch, wraps up Swanson by the neck and pulls down on his head, but the knee he throws on the break doesn’t seem to land cleanly. Swanson backpedals to evade a pair of punches and gets tripped up by a Dias low kick. Dias connects with a plunging right hand and a left hook to the leaning Swanson’s face. Swanson sends a few front kicks into Dias’ midsection, tries to whip around with a spinning strike and gets tangled up. Dias swings some long punches but is having trouble finding the mark from range here late in the contest. Dias looks to have sustained an eye poke in an exchange, but he tells referee Herb Dean that he’s OK to continue. Swanson lands a right hook, throws another but it bounces off Dias’ bicep. Swanson looses his footing, regains his balance and throws a left high kick which catches Dias and sends him crashing to the floor. Swanson tries to pound him out but Dias looks to have recovered quickly from the flash knockdown. With one minute left, Swanson works from top position, defending his left arm from a kimura attempt. Swanson spins to north-south position and then jumps back to his feet in order to keep Dias on the ground. Referee Dean calls for work, and after a few seconds, Swanson comes diving to the ground with a big right hand to Dias’ body. Dias absorbs a few more punches to the face and finishes the fight on his back, with Swanson stood above him, kicking at his legs.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Swanson (30-28 Swanson)
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Swanson (29-28 Swanson)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Swanson (29-28 Swanson)

Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Darrell Horcher

Round 1

The southpaw Horcher steps slowly toward Nurmagomedov in a tense opening minute with little activity. Horcher slaps the inside of Nurmagomedov’s lead leg with a kick but can’t quite find the target with his jab. Nurmagomedov eats a two-piece combination and shoots for a takedown, but he doesn’t fully commit to the shot and Horcher steps away. The next shot from Nurmagomedov is a deep one: he traps Horcher on the fence, lifts him over-shoulder and runs him to the center of the cage for a slam. Horcher works from the bottom with 2:00 on the clock and locks down Nurmagomedov’s arms to prevent any offense from “The Eagle.” Nurmagomedov works to pass and advances to side control with one minute remaining. Nurmagomedov immediately begins unloading with heavy elbows and punches to the right side of Horcher’s face, while the American tries to shrimp underneath. Horcher tries to escape but Nurmagomedov follows him step-for-step in the scramble, and he winds up on Horcher’s back. Horcher is just covering up as he kneels in the center of the cage, while the back-mounted Nurmagomedov tees off with punches until the round ends.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Nurmagomedov
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Nurmagomedov
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Nurmagomedov

Round 2

Nurmagomedov gets in deep on a single-leg shot but has to settle for running Horcher against the fence, as the UFC newcomer does well to keep his balance. That lasts only a few seconds, as Nurmagomedov’s next takedown attempt plants Horcher back on the mat. Nurmagomedov passes to cross-side control on Horcher’s right and tries to pin down his right arm in between dropping heavy punches. Nurmagomedov keeps working and eventually secures the mounted crucifix, and now he’s able to land clean left hands and elbows to Horcher’s unprotected face. Horcher isn’t giving up, still struggling to free his right arm, but Nurmagomedov is all over him. Horcher rolls to his knees and Nurmagomedov wastes no time in taking his back again. Nurmagomedov is throwing with bad intentions, trying to finish this fight with thudding punches to the body and head. Horcher is covering up with gloves on either side of his face, but Nurmagomedov’s punches are going right through. Referee James Warring gives Horcher a chance to improve his position but eventually has to wave off the fight, as Nurmagomedov lands unanswered punch after unanswered punch. Khabib Nurmagomedov returns from an absence of more than two years to record a second-round stoppage.

The Official Result

Khabib Nurmagomedov def. Darrell Horcher via TKO (Punches) R2 3:38

Rose Namajunas vs. Tecia Torres

Round 1

Namajunas opens the fight with a leg kick after more than a minute of circling and range-finding. “Thug Rose” snaps off a few long jabs in Torres’ face but pulls up just short. Suddenly, Namajunas charges into range throwing punches, then trying to clinch, but Torres avoids damage and the takedown by shrugging off her opponent from the whizzer. Torres catches a high leg kick and slugs Namajunas with two or three quick right hands before releasing. Two minutes remain in what has been an even and somewhat uneventful opening round. Torres chops at the back of Namajunas’ left leg with a hard kick before the strawweights engage in a brief clinch near the fence. They move back to the center and Namajunas sticks a long right hand down the center on the incoming “Tornado.” Namajunas tries to grab Torres’ head in the Thai plum, but Torres decks her with a left hook which appears to buckle Namajunas’ legs. The 115-pounders wind up clinched on the fence again, and now Namajunas works her way to a trip takedown. Namajunas drops a few solid left hands and nearly mounts Torres as time expires.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Torres
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Torres
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Torres

Round 2

Namajunas sticks a long right hand, tries to draw Torres forward with some light taunting and then pushes her back with a push kick to the midsection. Torres pushes forward with a left hook-body kick combo, and Namajunas hits her with a counter hook before she can escape the pocket. Inside leg kick lands for Torres, doubled up with a side kick to the body, then another low kick. Torres steps in again and Namajunas angles off to crack her with a left hand. Torres seems unfazed but now presses forward and walks into two more solid punches from “Thug Rose.” Namajunas connects with a kick to the chest but slips as she leaps into the air for a follow-up. Torres tries to close the distance but Namajunas is back on her feet before any harm can come of the mistake. Namajunas shoots an ugly shot and winds up on her stomach, grabbing for Torres’ ankles. She pops back to her feet and gets spun against the fence by the “Tornado,” and now the strawweights split with just over one minute on the clock. Torres puts a pair of kicks on Namajunas’ rapidly reddening left leg. Torres bursts forward with a five-punch combination but only appears to land one of them. In the final 10 seconds, it’s Namajunas finishing strong with two left hooks which cause Torres to tie up.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Namajunas
Brian Knapp scores the round 10-9 Namajunas
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Namajunas

Round 3

Torres breaks the opening-minute stalemate with a side kick to the body of Namajunas, who retaliates with a reaching overhand right. Torres strikes again with an outside leg kick and then slides away from Namajunas’ counter right. Namajunas reaches in with a long left hand to the body, but it’s all single punches so far through two minutes of the final round. Torres continues to land solid leg kicks, sporadic though they may be. They’re down to the final two minutes, Namajunas still camped out in the center of the cage while Torres moves around the outside. Torres comes in to clinch briefly, separating with a nice left hook and a body kick. Namajunas misses with a flying knee, sends a round kick off Torres’ arms. Namajunas comes in for a clinch with 45 seconds on the clock; Torres tries to turn her into the whizzer, but Namajunas plows her to the ground. It’s tight going on the ground, with Torres simply tying up and looking to ride out the last remaining seconds. Namajunas backs out to finish the round standing over Torres, and this one will be decided by the judges.

Glover Teixeira vs. Rashad Evans

Round 1

Referee Herb Dean is the third man in the cage for tonight’s 205-pound main event, with judges Derek Cleary, Chris Lee and Roy Silbert scoring the bout. Teixeira comes across the cage to press forward on Evans, who circles to his left around the outside. “Suga” clips the incoming Teixeira with a left hand to the face before engaging in a brief clinch on the fence. Now they’re back to circling, Teixeira moving into range to throw hands. A left hand catches Evans down the middle, then a right cross behind it. Evans sticks a jab and gets his arms up to deflect a right high kick. Teixeira keeps the pressure on, backing Evans up against the fence and then sending him to the ground with a thunderous left hand to the jaw. Evans is still conscious, trying to get up from his knees when Teixeira’s follow-up right hand crashes into his face and knocks him out cold. Referee Dean steps in to halt the bout and then has to explain what happened to a dazed Evans. Glover Teixeira collects his third straight finish inside the Octagon.

The Official Result

Glover Teixeira def. Rashad Evans via KO (Punches) R1 1:48
