UFC on FX 4 Draws 1.3 Million Viewers, UFC 147 Prelims Follow with 969,000

UFC on FX 4 averaged 1.3 million viewers for its Friday night broadcast on the Fox-owned cable network, while Saturday’s UFC 147 prelims drew 969,000 sets of eyes.

Sherdog.com confirmed the figures Tuesday with an industry source. UFC on FX 4 took place June 22 at Revel Atlantic City in Atlantic City, N.J., and was headlined by a pivotal lightweight confrontation between ex-title challenger Gray Maynard and former Strikeforce champ Clay Guida. “The Bully” emerged victorious via split decision after spending five rounds attempting to corner Guida, who used constant motion to frustrate Maynard while avoiding a firefight and picking his shots.

The following night, FX hosted the UFC 147 prelims prior to the pay-per-view broadcast from Felipe Drumond Stadium in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The undercard showcased four bouts and featured the evening’s “Submission of the Night,” as Rodrigo Damm floored Anistavio Medeiros with a sharp right cross before finishing “Gasparzinho” with a rear-naked choke at 2:12 of the opening round.

UFC on FX 4 tied the series’ second-best viewership turnout, trailing only UFC on FX 2, which netted 1.4 million viewers this past March. Meanwhile, the UFC 147 prelims pulled the second-lowest rating for a live broadcast on the network since the UFC began its seven-year deal with Fox, beating out only January’s UFC 142 prelims, which attracted 880,000 viewers. The series high was set by the UFC 145 prelims in April, for which 1.6 million viewers tuned in.
