UFC is Betting Favorite for Where GSP Will Fight Next

Georges St. Pierre was arguably the greatest welterweight champion in Ultimate Fighting Championship history and many will argue that he's the best pound-for-pound fighter ever. But nobody knows what his next move will be.

After successfully defending his 170-pound title against Johny Hendricks, "Rush" shocked the mixed martial arts world by retiring from the sport. Most figured he would return after a few months but when his hiatus turned into years, the notion of him coming back to the UFC was cloudy.

But in recent months, the Montreal-based superstar had intimated that he wants to come back and he somewhat come out of retirement. Rumors as to if he'd challenge current champ Tyron Woodley, former titlist Robbie Lawler and a super fight with Anderson Silva swirled like a tornado but nothing ever came to fruition.

Over the past week, though, St. Pierre and the UFC have been embroiled in a public squabble as to whether he is technically a free agent. GSP and his team claim he is while the UFC says otherwise. And with so many prominent fighters leaving the UFC for other promotions, coupled with the new owners laying off many workers across the globe, the notion is that St. Pierre will not return to the UFC.

Online Sportsbook giant Bovada has official odds on where GSP will fight next. The UFC is currently the betting favorite if and when "Rush" returns and had him at -260, or 5/11. There are decent odds that he'll fight somewhere else, though; Bovada pegs that angle of the wager at +160, or 8/5.
