Paul Daley went 4-1 in 2013.. | Dave Mandel/Sherdog.com

Noted knockout artist Paul Daley will return to action on Sept. 13 when he squares off against Igor Fernandes in the British Association of Mixed Martial Arts 16 headliner.

The promotion recently confirmed the welterweight pairing following an initial report from MMAFighting.com. BAMMA 16 takes place at Victoria Warehouse in Manchester, England; no other bouts have been announced for the event.

Daley, who was released from the UFC in 2009 for throwing a punch at Josh Koscheck following the conclusion of their bout, recently expressed an interest in returning to the Las Vegas-based promotion. However, UFC President Dana White did not seem keen on the idea when talking to reporters ahead of UFC Fight Night Berlin a few weeks ago.

The British slugger is 11-4 since he last competed in the Octagon, including a trio of victories under the BAMMA banner. “Semtex” has also fought for Strikeforce, Bellator and Cage Warriors Fighting Championship during that time. Most recently, Daley scored a second-round knockout of Romario Manoel da Silva at BAMMA 14 this past December.

A native of Rio de Janeiro, Fernandes enters the matchup riding a six-fight winning streak in which he has finished all of his opponents by either knockout or submission. Fernandes hasn’t fought since March 2013, when he tapped Rudy Bears with an anaconda choke in the opening frame at an event in Ecuador.
