UFC President to Meet with Conor McGregor Next Week to Discuss Future Plans

Conor McGregor’s next UFC appearance has not yet been finalized, but Dana White expects to meet with the featherweight champ next week to discuss his future.

During an interview on "The Dan Patrick Show” Wednesday, the UFC President reiterated a previous claim that his relationship with the “Notorious” Irishman is still solid.

“Conor and I have been talking every day,” White said. “We’re going to have dinner next week. Our relationship’s great and  we’re going to put the little speed bump in the road that happened there behind us and move forward. So everything’s great.

“He will not be on 200. We’re going to get together next week and see what card he’ll be fighting on.”

McGregor was removed from the UFC 200 headliner after he balked at the promotional duties surrounding the landmark event. The SBG Ireland product took the dispute to Twitter, where he retired, retracted his retirement and then declared himself ready to return to his spot atop the card. The UFC refused to budge from its original position, even after McGregor claimed that both sides had reached an agreement to put him back on UFC 200.

Exactly when McGregor will show up in the Octagon is not yet clear, although it is expected to be soon. White didn’t exactly dispel recent rumors that the McGregor’s rematch with Nate Diaz would occur on the as-yet-to-be-announced UFC 202 bill in August.

“Sounds like a good idea to me,” White told Patrick.

But at least for now, everything is tentative until White and McGregor have a face-to-face meeting.

“We’re getting together next week and we’re going to figure out what’s next,” White said.
