Following 17 professional bouts -- 13 under the Ultimate Fighting Championship banner -- Mark Bocek has retired from the sport of mixed martial arts.
The 32-year-old announced his decision via Twitter on Tuesday evening.

Bocek most recently fought inside the Octagon against Mike de la Torre at “The Ultimate Fighter: Nations” finale in April, winning via split decision. The win was his first since 2012.
The Tristar Gym product has faced some of the stiffest competition that the lightweight division has to offer, competing against the likes of Frankie Edgar, Benson Henderson, Jim Miller, Nik Lentz, and Rafael dos Anjos. But the most telling statistic is the fact that Bocek has never lost two consecutive fights in his professional career.
Bocek, who finishes his career with a record of 12-5, holds the distinction of being the first Canadian to be awarded a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt.
