The UFC hasn’t held an event in Austin since UFC Fight Night “Marquardt vs. Palhares” in 2010. The main event featured Nate Marquardt defeating Rousimar Palhares via technical knockout in the first round, but it was not without controversy.
Palhares attempted to secure a leg lock on Marquardt, but “The Great” yanked his limb free immediately, leading the Brazilian to claim something was wrong and alert referee Herb Dean to a potential case of greasing. His protests were to no avail, however, as Marquardt finished his foe via TKO at the 3:26 mark.
