UFC Fighter Nick Diaz Arrested Sept. 6 on Suspicion of DUI, Other Charges

Controversial UFC talent Nick Diaz was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Lodi, Calif., on Sept. 6.
Lodi Police Sgt. Steve Maynard told Sherdog.com on Friday that Diaz was stopped at about 2 a.m. for a moving violation. After being approached by the officer, it was determined Diaz was under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.

In addition to the possible DUI, Diaz faces charges of obstructing a police officer, destruction of evidence and driving with a suspended license, according to the Lodi-News Sentinel . The arraignment for Diaz was set for 21 days after his arrest.
Earlier this summer, Diaz ended his retirement to sign a multi-fight contract extension with the UFC. He is scheduled to face Anderson Silva at UFC 183 in Las Vegas on Jan. 31. The Las Vegas-based promotion released a statement regarding Diaz's arrest on Friday afternoon.
"We are aware of the situation and are in the process of gathering the facts," it read. "We understand that there is a legal process that will now take place and that Nick Diaz will have the opportunity to address the situation in the near future."
