Ron Stallings vs. Justin Jones

Round 1

Jones walks Stallings toward the fence, eating a jab from the southpaw before closing the gap and working to clinch. Stallings circles off the cage and hurts Jones with a liver kick. Jones is trying to hide the damage but he’s doubling over as Stallings backs him up to the fence, bombing “Lazy Bones” with more kicks, punches and knees. Jones somehow survives the barrage without referee Todd McGovern intervening, and now he changes levels to attempt a double-leg takedown. He brings Stallings to the floor but has to bail out and allow him to stand when “The Choir Boy” threatens with a headlock. Midway through the round, Jones continues to cling to Stallings, trying to trip him to the ground. Jones releases with two minutes left in the round and whiffs with five or six punches in a row. Back to the clinch they go, Jones on the outside. Stallings targets the liver of Jones with a nice knee inside but can’t get his back off the fence. Jones finishes the round punching Stallings in the thigh.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Stallings
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Stallings
Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Stallings

Round 2

Jones tries to close the distance with wild punches and walks into a sharp right cross from Stallings, then barely blocks a left high kick. Jones clinches up and drops for a double-leg, and this time referee McGovern is quick to call for action. Stallings defends the takedown and circles out to meet Jones in the center, popping him with a couple quick jabs. Now it’s Stallings clinching up briefly before the middleweights break in the middle of the round. Stallings splits Jones’ guard with a left hand, and now Jones goes after the takedown again. This time, Jones pulls Stallings to the canvas at the base of the fence with under two minutes on the clock. There’s not much action on the ground, but Jones manages to keep Stallings there to the end of the frame.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Jones
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Jones
Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Jones

Round 3

Stallings flicks out jabs to the body and head, trying to keep Jones out of range. Jones shoots for a takedown from way out and gets sprawled upon, but he stands up to shove Stallings against the cage. Jones drops for a double, and Stallings widens his base with his back to the fence. Referee McGovern splits up the middleweights 90 seconds into the round, and Stallings zaps Jones with a couple jabs, another body kick. Jones shoots again, only to be met by another sprawl from Stallings. Back up comes Jones, again pushing Stallings against the cage. Stallings turns him around and peppers Jones with five or six punches, mixing up his shots to the body and head. Jones pins Stallings to the fence with an underhook and spends 30 seconds holding him there before the ref breaks them up. Down to the final minute now, and it’s Stallings striking from distance, using jabs and kicks to keep Jones away from the clinch. Stallings grabs the Thai plum and drills Jones with a couple hard knees to the face, prompting Jones to try for another takedown. Jones puts Stallings on the fence, releases to throw a three-punch combo and misses with all three. Jones drops for a double-leg and finishes the fight doubled over with Stallings punching his body.

Shamil Abdurakhimov vs. Timothy Johnson

Round 1

Abdurakhimov lands a few early leg kicks as the southpaw Johnson walks forward. The big men circle the cage, winding up back in the center, where Johnson charges behind a punch to put Abdurakhimov on the fence. Abdurakhimov reverses, backs off and puts another kick on Johnson’s lead leg. Abdurakhimov catches Johnson with a hard uppercut and follow-up left hook, and now Johnson wants the fight back on the fence. Abdurakhimov absorbs a knee to the gut before he’s able to turn Johnson around. Referee Mike King continues to warn Abdurakhimov for grabbing the fence. After four warnings, King takes one point away from Abdurakhimov. The round resumes with just over half the round remaining. Johnson gets hold of Abdurakhimov with a body lock and tries to trip the Russian to the ground, but Abdurakhimov stays standing and puts his back to the fence before reversing Johnson in the clinch. Johnson gets loose and charges forward swinging punches, clashing heads with Abdurakhimov while barging into the pocket. Johnson clips Abdurakhimov with a right hand as the round enters its final minute. With 30 seconds left, Johnson hits a quick level change and takedown, then steps straight over to full mount. Johnson is swinging for the finish with 15 seconds left; most of the shots appear to be deflected by Abdurakhimov’s arms, but referee King is calling for the Russian to fight back. Johnson keeps punching, and with seconds remaining in the round, the ref stops the fight.

The Official Result

Timothy Johnson def. Shamil Abdurakhimov via TKO (Punches) R1 4:57

Gray Maynard vs. Alexander Yakovlev

Round 1

Maynard charges at Yakovlev swinging punches, and the Russian changes levels to floor the former All-American wrestler with a takedown. Maynard grabs a headlock on the way down and uses it to work back to his feet. Now it’s Maynard going for a takedown but unable to put Yakovlev on the canvas. The lightweights clinch on the fence, Maynard on the outside with a body lock, while referee Dan Miragliotta calls for action. The ref breaks up the 155ers with just under three minutes left in the opening round. Maynard lands a right hook, takes a hard kick to the body, then fakes a single-leg and hits Yakovlev with another glancing right hand. Yakovlev goes for a takedown, gets headlocked and shoved against the fence by Maynard, but he’s able to reverse and separate from the American with one minute left. Maynard puts a right hook on Yakovlev’s ribs, while Yakovlev continues to stalk the smaller man, walking forward flat-footed.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Maynard
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Maynard
Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Yakovlev

Round 2

Maynard bangs the body of Yakovlev with three or four quick punches, backs out to reset and then changes levels to floor the Russian with a takedown in the center. Yakovlev gives up his back in order to turn and stand, and Maynard keeps hold of a rear waistlock as they fight on the fence. Maynard lands knees to Yakovlev’s thighs for 30 seconds or so before releasing. Halfway through the round and the fight, Yakovlev slips a punch from Maynard and returns fire with a right hook. Maynard grabs a single-leg but Yakovlev is able to free himself by leaping into the air. A straight left hand from Yakovlev sends Maynard stumbling backward, falling to the ground. Yakovlev tries to capitalize but Maynard stays alive, eating a few punches to drive forward on a desperation takedown attempt. Yakovlev sprawls and threatens with a brabo choke, then spins to take Maynard’s back. When Maynard tries to stand, Yakovlev turns to the front and rides him back to the ground. Maynard sits up and drives on one of Yakovlev’s legs, and that’s where the round ends.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-8 Yakovlev
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Yakovlev
Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Yakovlev

Round 3

Maynard works to close the gap on Yakovlev, and when he does, he’s able to bring the Russian to his knees near the fence. Yakovlev quickly works back to his feet, still pinned against the cage. The lightweights separate and come back to the center with about 3:30 left in the fight. Maynard ducks into range with his head down and eats a big left hook from Yakovlev, who defends a takedown afterward. Maynard disconnects and then comes back to try the takedown again, but they wind up clinching on the fence. Yakovlev circles out, back to the middle of the cage with half the round remaining. A straight left stings Maynard, then a pair of punches to the side of the head as he rushes into the pocket, desperate for a takedown. Yakovlev denies him again and stalks forward on Maynard, whose face is reddened either from exhaustion or Yakovlev’s punches, or both. With one minute left, Yakovlev clinches and trips Maynard to the ground, then moves to half guard on the American’s right side. Yakovlev spends the final 40 seconds dropping short punches, keeping Maynard on the ground to the horn.

Liz Carmouche vs. Lauren Murphy

Round 1

Murphy wastes no time grabbing hold of Carmouche and pressing her against the cage. Murphy uses underhooks to keep “Girlrilla” on the fence, working for a trip takedown while the former title challenger peppers Murphy with short punches and elbows. Halfway through the round, with little happening in the clinch, referee Keith Peterson separates the fighters. Murphy presses forward, testing the range with jabs but not finding her mark. Carmouche looks light on her feet, landing a few leg kicks and one to the body as she hops backward. A pair of hard, straight right hands connect for Carmouche before Murphy grabs over-unders and brings the fight back to the fence. It’s more of the same from Murphy to end the round, holding Carmouche on the cage. Murphy finally completes a takedown just before the round ends.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Murphy
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-10
Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Carmouche

Round 2

It’s Murphy coming forward early again, standing in the pocket but not really letting go of her hands. Carmouche sprawls on a shot and cracks Murphy with a knee to the face on the way back up. Murphy keeps hold and drops for a double against the fence, while Carmouche defends the takedown and throws sporadic punches to Murphy’s head. Murphy keeps hugging Carmouche against the cage until three minutes into the round, when referee Peterson separates the 135ers. Murphy marches on Carmouche, who tries a handstand kick and gets her leg caught. Held against the fence, Carmouche tries to throw Murphy over her leg and winds up being put on her back. Carmouche lands a hard right hand from the bottom while Murphy kneels in her guard, but it’s Murphy once again finishing the round on top.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Murphy
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Murphy
Jeff Sherwood scores the round 10-9 Carmouche

Round 3

Carmouche lands a hard body kick, answered by Murphy with a chop to the lead leg. Carmouche changes levels, elevates and slams Murphy to the ground. Murphy sits up with her back to the fence and Carmouche still clung to her legs. Carmouche stands up to keep Murphy grounded, but while she tries to yank Murphy’s legs out from under her, Murphy is racking up short punches and elbows to the side of the head. Murphy gets back to her feet with 2:50 on the clock and puts Carmouche back in the familiar position on the fence. Carmouche gives up her back standing and defends as Murphy tries to pull her backward to the ground. Carmouche turns around and this time completes the hip toss which she tried unsuccessfully in round two. Murphy tries to sit out and take Carmouche’s back, so the Team Hurricane Awesome fighter stands up. Murphy gets another takedown with just about one minute remaining, but Carmouche is soon back on her feet. Murphy stays glued to Carmouche as they rise, keeping the fight on the fence. Carmouche hits the toss one more time in the final seconds, landing in cross side position to deliver a couple elbows to Murphy’s face in the closing moments.

Dustin Poirier vs. Carlos Diego Ferreira

Round 1

Ferreira closes the distance and punches at Poirier near the fence, but it’s “The Diamond” connecting with a couple hard right hands to the Brazilian’s cheek. Ferreira hits a takedown, immediately reversed by Poirier, and the lightweights scramble back to their feet. Ferreira clinches on the fence, gets reversed and then released by Poirier. The lightweights fight back to the center, where Poirier scores with an uppercut and Ferreira answers with a couple punches of his own. Poirier takes a kick on the cup about two minutes in, but he only takes a few seconds to recover. Poirier gives Ferreira a hard leg kick which causes the Brazilian to switch stances before grabbing for a single-leg on the fence. Poirier turns him around and releases to give Ferreira a kick in the ribs. A straight left hand hurts Ferreira, and another behind it sends him to the ground. Poirier dives to the ground, cracking Ferreira with an elbow and then reversing a takedown. Poirier wants Ferreira back on his feet, and once he gets there, the American Top Team fighter drills the Brazilian with three or four hard punches. Ferreira drops to his back, where Poirier pounds him out with a big left hand from the standing position which forces referee Todd McGovern to intervene.

The Official Result

Dustin Poirier def. Carlos Diego Ferreira via KO (Punches) R1 3:45

Clay Guida vs. Robbie Peralta

Round 1

The featherweights trade leg kicks to open the bout as they circle one another in the center of the cage. Peralta sticks a couple jabs in the face of Guida, who is pulling up short with big punches early. One minute in, Guida shoots for Peralta’s legs, and “Problems” defends the double by widening his base against the cage. Guida lifts and slams Peralta toward the center, but Peralta scoots back toward the fence, posts and stands with Guida still hanging on to his right leg. Referee Mike King calls for work, and Guida obliges with another slam takedown. Guida sits up in Peralta’s half guard and pops him with three or four right hands. Peralta sits up, so Guida turns the corner to try and take the back but is blocked by the fence. Peralta stands up with one minute left in the round and gets busted right back down to his knees. Guida looks to be fishing for a no-hooks rear-naked choke while kneeling the backside of Peralta on the ground. Peralta stands just before the end of the round and finishes the frame with Guida hanging off his back.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Guida
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Guida
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Guida

Round 2

Guida comes out throwing body shots and then changes levels to plow Peralta back to the ground. The featherweights work toward the fence, where Peralta posts and stands. It looks like Guida ate a right hand from Peralta in the opening exchange of the round, too, as “The Carpenter” is dripping blood from his left eye. Guida keeps digging for a single-leg on the fence while Peralta tries to peel him off. Two minutes into the round, referee Mike King calls for a break, but 30 seconds later, they’re right back in the same position. Peralta throws a couple knees but can’t find the head of Guida, which is buried in the Californian’s chest as he presses for the takedown. Guida isn’t doing much of anything here, so referee King breaks the fighters again with 60 seconds on the clock. Guida ducks under a right hook to counter Peralta with an overhand. Peralta finishes his round with a few low kicks before stifling one last Guida takedown attempt.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Guida
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Guida
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Guida

Round 3

Guida slaps Peralta’s face with a slow left high kick, answered by Peralta with one to the lead leg. Peralta blocks a right high kick, but Guida changes levels and floors him with yet another takedown. Peralta gets up and is met with another big slam from the veteran. Guida leans left to right across Peralta from half guard, framing up an arm-triangle choke. Guida passes to the other side, trying to finish the choke, but Peralta is able to free himself and put Guida in half guard. Back to side control goes Guida with 90 seconds remaining, but it allows Peralta to escape on the other side and stand. Guida keeps him trapped on the fence, clinging to Peralta’s left leg. Peralta makes him pay with half a dozen solid elbow strikes to the side of the head, but it’s going to take more than that for Peralta to get a win at this stage. Guida drags Peralta off the fence for one last takedown with 30 seconds left.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Guida (30-27 Guida)
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Guida (30-27 Guida)
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Guida (30-27 Guida)

Julianna Pena vs. Milana Dudieva

Round 1

Pena comes out swinging for the fences and gets wrapped up by Dudieva, who tries to slam the “Ultimate Fighter” winner to the ground. Pena keeps her balance and digs an underhook to shove Dudieva against the cage, but the Russian hits a nice trip to put Pena on the canvas. Pena throws up an armbar from underneath and gets stacked up. Pena releases the arm, scrambles up and hits a single-leg of her own. Straight to full mount goes Pena, dropping punches and elbows on the face of Dudieva, who is flailing back with ineffective strikes from underneath. Dudieva tries to kick off the cage and buck Pena out of mount, but she can’t. Pena drops double-handed hammer fists but doesn’t appear to be doing a ton of damage. Inside the final two minutes, and now Pena begins landing some hard shots, forcing Dudieva to roll over to her stomach. Dudieva turns over again and covers up, deflecting Pena’s elbow strikes. Pena switches to punches and seems to stun Dudieva, who drops her guard and eats a few elbows before referee Keith Peterson stops the fight.

The Official Result

Julianna Pena def. Milana Dudieva via TKO (Punches and Elbows) R1 3:59

Michael Chiesa vs. Mitch Clarke

Round 1

Chiesa pumps his jab in Clarke’s face but eats a right cross from the Canadian before being shoved against the fence. The lightweights jockey for position on the cage, Clarke landing a right hook as they separate. Chiesa walks forward to clinch again and gets reversed. Clarke drops for a single-leg, taking a few punches to the side of the head before releasing. Clarke releases the clinch and steps out of the way before Chiesa can deliver a spinning elbow. Chiesa hits a toss but can’t keep Clarke on the ground, as “Danger Zone” pops back up to resume clinching. Another toss from Chiesa, another scramble up from Clarke, and now the 155ers reset in the center of the cage. Chiesa connects with a left hand, tries to throw Clarke to the ground again, but Clarke uses the whizzer to push Chiesa against the fence again. Clarke throws a knee and gets thrown to the ground, with Chiesa landing nearly in full mount, dropping left hands on Clarke’s unprotected face. Chiesa secures back-mount with a body triangle and pulls Clarke backward, working for a rear-naked choke while Clarke defends with two hands on Chiesa’s right wrist. Clarke is split open on the bridge of his nose as he peels away Chiesa’s body triangle. Chiesa transitions to an armbar, loses it and takes Clarke’s back to close out the round.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Chiesa
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Chiesa
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-9 Chiesa

Round 2

Chiesa leaps into range with a flying knee and gets turned to the fence by Clarke, who works for a single-leg while stomping the “Ultimate Fighter” winner’s feet. After 30 seconds of this, referee Dan Miragliotta separates the 155ers. Clarke blocks a high kick, tries to catch a leg but cannot. Chiesa stays in Clarke’s face with punches until he’s able to wrap up the Canadian on the fence. Clarke reverses and delivers a few knees up the center before Chiesa trips him back to the ground. Chiesa moves straight to Clarke’s back, setting up in the same position from which he finished round one. Punches and elbows connect for Chiesa from back-mount, with Clarke unable to extract himself due to Chiesa’s body triangle. Clarke defends against the rear-naked choke with two-on-one wrist control, rolls to his knees and then stands with Chiesa still attached to his back. Chiesa keeps fishing for the RNC from the standing position, held in place on Clarke’s back by the body triangle. The lightweights drop back to the ground with 40 seconds left, and Chiesa once again finishes the round on Clarke’s back.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-8 Chiesa
TJ De Santis scores the round 10-9 Chiesa
Chris Nelson scores the round 10-8 Chiesa

Round 3

Clarke presses the action at the start of the final round, but he walks into a straight left from Chiesa as they near the fence. A few nice body shots land for Clarke, then a knee up the center in the Thai clinch. Clarke thumps Chiesa with a right hook and backs out of the way as Chiesa returns fire with a left hand. A straight right and a left hook score for Clarke, who now seems to be wearing down Chiesa a bit. Chiesa slows his progress with a right cross, follows as Clarke backpedals and lands another left hook. A leaping knee pushes Clarke backward, but he gets it back and then some with four or five good punches to Chiesa’s face in quick succession. Both guys are staying active late in the round, but it’s the left hand of Chiesa that appears to be doing the most damage down the stretch. Clarke keeps pushing forward, walking into a couple body kicks. He wraps up Chiesa to try for a late takedown but can’t bring “Maverick” to the mat before the final horn.

Sherdog Scores

Jordan Breen scores the round 10-9 Chiesa (30-26 Chiesa)

Jorge Masvidal vs. Al Iaquinta

Round 1

The lightweights spend the opening minute circling and testing the range with low kicks and jabs. Iaquinta grabs for a single-leg and gets denied by Masvidal, who sticks a left hand in the New Yorker’s face as they separate. Iaquinta takes a flying knee and grabs hold of Masvidal’s leg but can’t pull him down. Masvidal puts a hard kick across Iaquinta’s midsection and goes on hs back foot, popping Iaquinta with jabs midway through the round. The lightweights trade leg kicks as the action slows a bit with two minutes left. Masvidal misses with a spinning kick but catches Iaquinta with a double jab and a hard, straight right hand behind it. Iaquinta shoots for a double-leg, gets stuffed to his back and drops for a heel hook. Masvidal grins as Iaquinta gives up on the leglock and the 155ers scramble back to their feet. A step-in knee hurts Iaquinta, and Masvidal shuts down a takedown attempt to punish him with more punches behind it. Iaquinta finishes the round on his back with Masvidal pounding on him, opening a major cut beneath the right eye of the Serra-Longo product.

It’s another slow opening minute as the fighters feel out the range, with Masvidal trying a few whipping front kicks. Iaquinta is pouring blood from his right cheek, and Masvidal’s short left hooks are only making things worse. The lightweights trade low kicks, Iaquinta getting the better of the kicking exchanges. A straight right draws a nod from Masvidal, and Iaquinta gets another one as he fakes a single-leg to come back upstairs with a punch. Masvidal scores with a round kick to the body, misses with a crescent kick upstairs. Masvidal counters a low kick with a straight right hand that briefly knocks Iaquinta to the ground. As the round hits its final minute, Masvidal snuffs out a takedown. Masvidal backs out of the way as Iaquinta throws another kick to the Floridian’s damaged lead leg. Iaquinta connects with a thumping overhand right, but Masvidal is landing the better volume, racking up jabs and hooks to Iaquinta’s single power shots. Masvidal lands a left kick to the body, catches a low kick from Iaquinta and trips him to the ground. Iaquinta gets back up and delivers a straight right to Masvidal’s breadbasket. With two minutes left, the backpedaling Masvidal continues to land steady jabs to Iaquinta’s face. Referee Keith Peterson calls for action, and Iaquinta comes alive with a straight right hand that knocks Masvidal backward. Iaquinta appears to try a flying scissor heel hook but doesn’t come close to getting hold of Masvidal’s leg. Last minute now and Iaquinta is a bloody mess as he takes a hard kick to the liver. “Raging Al” just keeps coming forward, kicking at Masvidal’s left leg until the final horn.

Round 1

Referee Dan Miragliotta is the third man in the cage for today’s 145-pound main event, with judges Doug Crosby, Dave Tirelli and Cardo Urso scoring at cageside. The fighters clash low kicks to open the fight, then Lamas misses with a high front kick up the center. Mendes changes levels and nods as Lamas meets him with an uppercut. Lamas puts a couple hard kicks on the lead leg of Mendes, who is trying to grab the leg each time. Mendes catches Lamas near the fence and sends him to the ground with a right hand to the forehead. Lamas gets up from his knees after taking four or five hammer fists, and Mendes puts him back on the canvas with a clinch knee to the face. Back up comes Lamas, but he staggers backward and slips to the ground near the fence. Mendes pushes the kneeling Lamas’ face into the ground and socks him with short, hard right hands. Mendes spins to the back, delivers a couple more punches and shrugs at referee Miragliotta, who stops the fight a second later.
