UFC Fight Night Prelims: Marion Reneau Triangle Choke Submits Jessica Andrade
A new threat has risen within the Ultimate Fighting Championship women’s bantamweight division: Marion Reneau.

A California-based Brazilian jiu-jitsu brown belt, Reneau bloodied her counterpart’s nose with a beautiful two-punch combination. Andrade answered, driving the 37-year-old to the mat behind a stinging right hand and subsequent punches. However, in her haste to finish, she wandered into the triangle and became hopelessly entangled in the maneuver. Andrade struggled to free herself, but Reneau calmly adjusted the choke and coaxed the tapout. She will ride a five-fight winning streak into her next appearance.

Dwyer Superman Punch KOs Macario
Matt Dwyer knocked out “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil” Season 2 finalist William Macario with a first-round Superman punch in a preliminary welterweight showdown. Dwyer (8-2, 1-1 UFC) brought it to a close 3:14 into round one.
Fighting behind a five-inch height and two-inch reach advantage, the 6-foot-4 Canadian set the stage for the knockout by utilizing a steady stream of kicks. Macario (7-3, 1-3 UFC) continually lowered his hands, leaving himself open up top. Dwyer delivered the Superman punch and looked on as the Brazilian staggered and fell to the mat in a delayed reaction. Rights and lefts came next, with Macario face down and unable to adequately defend himself.
Dwyer, 25, has won six of his past seven bouts.
‘El Cucuy’ Smashes Silva
MMA Lab’s Mike de la Torre wrecked Tiago dos Santos e Silva with a left hook and a burst of standing-to-ground right hands in the first round of their undercard battle at 145 pounds. Silva (19-5-2, 1-1 UFC) met his end 2:59 into round one, his 10-fight winning streak halted in emphatic fashion.
De la Torre (13-4, 1-1 UFC) staggered the Brazilian multiple times, the left hook serving as his weapon of choice. The 28-year-old John Crouch protégé floored Silva a little more than midway through round one and buried him with a series of unanswered rights, forcing referee Leon Roberts to intervene. De la Torre now sports 10 first-round finishes among his 13 career victories.
De Andrade Sinks Gibson on Scorecards
Shooto Americas alum Douglas Silva de Andrade rebounded from his first professional defeat with a unanimous verdict against Cody Gibson in a preliminary bantamweight clash. All three cageside judges scored it for de Andrade (23-1, 1-1 UFC): 29-28, 30-27 and 29-28.
Gibson (12-6, 1-3 UFC) alternated between orthodox and southpaw throughout the 15-minute encounter, pressed the action and opened a cut under the Brazilian’s left eye with a series of clubbing right hands. However, his good work unraveled in the second round, where de Andrade dropped him with a clean right hand, followed with ground-and-pound and dove on an attempted guillotine choke. Gibson survived, but the momentum of the match had been altered.
De Andrade fought through visible fatigue down the stretch, scoring with leg kicks and quick right hands while countering a third-round takedown from the Californian by scrambling into top position.
‘Batman’ Jorge Decisions Shockley
Former Jungle Fight champion Ivan Jorge won for the eighth time in nine appearances, as he claimed a unanimous decision over Josh Shockley in an undercard scrap at 155 pounds. Jorge (26-4, 2-1 UFC) swept the scorecards with identical 29-28 marks.
Body-lock takedowns, mild ground-and-pound and a near finish in the first round buoyed the Brazilian. Shockley (11-4, 0-2 UFC) enjoyed success with knee strikes from the clinch but failed to string together enough offense to keep “Batman” at bay. Jorge struck for multiple takedowns inside round one, advanced to mount and locked up an arm-triangle choke that had the Duneland Vale Tudo representative ready to tap. He ultimately abandoned the choke and later sealed the victory in the third period, where he was the clear aggressor and executed another takedown in the final minute.
