UFC Fight Night Boston Medical Suspensions: Cruz, Five Others Facing 6 Months

Newly crowned bantamweight king Dominick Cruz is one six fighters from the UFC Fight Night Boston card who is facing a potential six-month layoff.

The Massachusetts State Athletic Commission released a list of medical suspensions from the event to Sherdog.com on Friday. Massachusetts Public Records Law authorizes the withholding medical files and information, so specific details regarding the nature of each fighter’s injuries were not available. In most cases, a fighter can shorten his or her suspension upon receiving clearance from an authorized physician.

UFC Fight Night “Dillashaw vs. Cruz” took place at the TD Garden in Boston on Jan. 17 and saw Cruz edge T.J. Dillashaw via split decision to win the 135-pound strap in the evening’s headliner. Dillashaw did not receive any type of suspension.

In addition to Cruz, Anthony Pettis, Travis Browne, Matt Mitrione, Ben Saunders and Kyle Bochniak also received possible six-month medical suspensions.
