Elsewhere, Evan Dunham and Rick Glenn pocketed $50,000 apiece for “Fight of the Night” in their featured lightweight scrap. Dunham nearly put Glenn away with a rear-naked choke in round one and generally got the better of his adversary with a pressure-based offensive approach. Glenn stayed in the fight for all three rounds, however, and the two combatants engaged in a wild slugfest in the contest’s waning moments.
Finally, Chas Skelly was an easy choice to receive the evening’s other $50,000 “Performance of the Night” check. The 31-year-old Texan launched himself at opponent Maximo Blanco with a flying kick to the chest in the opening moments of their bout. When Blanco attempted to stand after absorbing the blow, Skelly secured an anaconda choke and the tapout just 19 seconds after the fight began, giving him the fastest featherweight submission in UFC/WEC history.
